Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and the natural Couture (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Coleman comes to the cage accompanied by Got Money. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Coleman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, the natural Couture!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Coleman does it's job there.
Coleman will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
The fight stays on the outside here - Couture looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Coleman walks into a jab.
Couture tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Coleman paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Couture fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Coleman is out of range.

Couture stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Couture wants it to stay on the feet.
Couture throws a right and a left that both miss.
Coleman moves out of range as Couture throws a body kick.
Couture swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Couture takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Couture cracks a nice hook into Coleman's ribs.

Couture is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Coleman avoids the head kick by Couture.
Coleman takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Couture ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Coleman moves away.

Coleman scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Couture is not content to let Coleman control the position.
Couture pushes Coleman away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Coleman gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Coleman lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Couture down.
Couture tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Coleman creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Couture sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Couture is working to avoid the ground and pound but Coleman connects with a decent elbow.
Coleman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Couture keeps working.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Couture can do anything to dispel that myth.

Coleman is not content to let Couture control the position.
Coleman is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Couture asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Coleman tries to bench press Couture off him but Couture keeps the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Coleman manages to work his way to half guard, despite Couture's best efforts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Couture throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

A punch lands to the side of Couture 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Coleman shoots in and drives through. Couture sprawls well.

Good leg kick by Couture there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Coleman uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Couture.
Couture is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Coleman rather than just go for the knockout.
Coleman throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Couture stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Coleman tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Couture swivels and escapes.

Couture throws a body punch but Coleman moves out of range.

Couture is looking for a sweep. Coleman is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Coleman is trying to control the action in half guard but Couture is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Coleman here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Coleman is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Couture is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Coleman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Couture tries to avoid it but Coleman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Couture to the ground. Couture escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Coleman. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Coleman swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Couture.

Coleman throws the left hand but Couture avoids the punch easily.

Couture shoots in and bounces Coleman off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Coleman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
