Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Derek Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Grappler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walker comes to the cage accompanied by Darude - Sandstorm . Derek Walker has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walker throws a head kick but Grappler moves out of range.
Grappler scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Grappler is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Walker is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Grappler seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Walker does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Grappler throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Walker holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Grappler wants to free his trapped foot but Walker is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Walker looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Walker looking for submissions off his back. Grappler really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Walker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Grappler is looking to take a break and control but Walker is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Walker trying to control here.
Walker misses with some strikes from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Grappler stops Walker from getting back to his feet.
Grappler wants to pass the guard but Walker is defending well. Walker tries to roll over but Grappler keeps him under control. Grappler controlling the action here. Grappler wants to stand up but Walker has a hold of him and won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Walker works his way to full guard. Good work. Walker tries to strike from the bottom.
Walker keeping moving, preventing Grappler from controlling successfully. Grappler looking to sit in guard and control but Walker gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Grappler preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Walker trying to control the position from guard on top but Grappler is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Walker chips away with some ground and pound. Grappler controls Walker momentarily but Walker frees himself. Grappler trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Walker wants to get up but he can't break Grappler's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Grappler avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Grappler working a defensive guard here.
Walker working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Grappler's head. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Walker trying to control the position from guard on top but Grappler is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Walker is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Grappler is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Grappler has escaped and now he's on top! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Mike Grappler will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Walker scores with a head kick.
It looks like Mike Grappler has been cut. A combination from Walker does no damage. Grappler feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Grappler postures up.
Grappler slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Walker looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Grappler trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Walker looking for a sweep. Not yet Walker, not yet. Grappler trying to control but Walker is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Mike Grappler hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Walker lands a nice looking body kick. Walker fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Grappler, pushing him back against the cage. Walker pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Walker has his takedown stuffed and Grappler counters with a shoot takedown. Walker fights it but they end up in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Grappler is breathing heavily. Grappler pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Walker is keeping the position for now. Walker wants to stand up but Grappler is controlling him. Grappler trying to control but Walker is working from the bottom. Grappler throwing strikes but missing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Walker is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Walker not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Grappler trying to stand up but can't free himself from Walker's guard. Grappler lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Walker looking for a sweep. Not yet Walker, not yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Walker scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Walker changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Grappler tries to avoid it but Walker manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Grappler to the ground. Grappler escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Nice takedown defense from Walker. No joy for Grappler on that attempt. Grappler has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Walker. Walker scores with a head kick.
Walker with a poor takedown and Grappler counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Grappler. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Derek Walker. That's going to take a lot out of him. Walker stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Walker pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Walker is defended easily by Grappler. Grappler decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Walker kicks Grappler off and gets back to his feet. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Walker. Grappler instigates a clinch. Walker controlling the action here for a moment.
Walker looking to slow down the pace here. Walker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Walker tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Walker with a lazy takedown attempt so Grappler counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Grappler trying to control but Walker is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Derek Walker will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Mike Grappler's cut. That's time! Walker's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Walker gets a clinch. Walker breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Grappler stuffs the takedown. Grappler shoots and misses and Walker counters with a nice low kick that buckles Grappler's knee momentarily. Walker shoots in and bounces Grappler off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Grappler keeping moving, preventing Walker from controlling successfully. Walker passes Grappler's right leg, so he's now in half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Grappler can do anything to dispel that myth. Walker is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Grappler is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
