Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dominic Vera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and kev smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vera comes into the arena with cuz u r next blaring out of the sound system. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

smith closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Vera tries to get to full guard but smith has control of the leg.
Vera is trying to control but can't.
smith stops Vera from getting back to his feet.

smith is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Vera defends it well.
Vera looks like he's trying to stand up.

Vera kicks smith off and gets back to his feet.
Nice takedown defense from Vera. No joy for smith on that attempt.
smith tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Vera swivels and escapes.
kev smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
smith will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Dominic Vera has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of kev smith.

Vera shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Vera was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Vera goes for an armbar but smith turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from smith.

Vera throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Vera fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt smith.

smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
smith uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Vera.

Vera throws a leg kick but smith sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Vera throws a body punch but smith moves out of range.

and Vera counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps smith thinking.
smith tries for a takedown but Vera circles away easily

and Vera cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Vera counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Vera.
smith wants to sweep but no luck.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vera wanted to stand there but smith had control of the position.
smith is trying to control the position but Vera postures up.
Vera wants to pass the guard but smith is keeping the position.

Vera lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Vera has a hand on smith's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. smith takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
smith wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Dominic Vera overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
smith is breathing heavily.

Vera somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!

Vera scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Vera swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jab, jab by Vera - just one landing.
Vera throws a body punch but smith moves out of range.
Vera throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck smith on the side of the head.

and smith counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
smith won't allow Vera to sweep him here.

Vera kicks smith off and gets to his feet.

Vera connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between smith's hands.
kev smith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
smith on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Vera lands a nice shot to the body.

and smith counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Vera!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

smith might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Vera kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

smith is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Vera can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
