Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zhenya Morozov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andrey Egorov! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Ivan Kurochkin and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Egorov shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Egorov was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Egorov is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Morozov has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Morozov! Morozov is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Morozov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Morozov wants to stand but Egorov has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Egorov throws his legs up looking for a submission but Morozov uses it to pass to side control.
Morozov trying to control the action but Egorov is working from the bottom. Morozov decides to take the fight back to the feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Egorov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Morozov sprawls well. Morozov wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Egorov gets slowly back to his feet. Egorov looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Morozov! Egorov is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Morozov has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Morozov! Morozov really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Morozov trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Egorov has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Morozov is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Egorov. Morozov wants to stand but Egorov is controlling his arm.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Morozov is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Egorov will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Egorov is trying to control Morozov's posture but Morozov avoids it. Egorov looking for a sweep but Morozov has passed into full mount! Oh no! Egorov tries to lock up and control but Morozov gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Morozov gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Morozov scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Morozov working away. Egorov looks gassed! Morozov wants to control but Egorov is keeping him busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Egorov wants to control but Morozov postures up. Egorov gets back to half guard. Morozov decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Morozov shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Egorov counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Morozov wants to control but Egorov is keeping busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Egorov is looking for a kimura here.
Egorov tries to pass the half guard into mount. Morozov knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Morozov trying to control but Egorov postures up.
Egorov prevents Morozov from standing back up.
Egorov looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Morozov is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Egorov's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Egorov's back! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Zhenya Morozov will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Egorov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Morozov sprawls well initially but Egorov persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Morozov actively working from the bottom here. Morozov trying to control from the bottom.
Egorov maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Morozov could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Egorov has cracked it and Morozov is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Egorov!
