Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Malik Mariot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Gygax (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gygax connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Mariot is looking to reverse the position.

Mariot escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gygax gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gygax tries to close the distance and clinch but Mariot swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Gygax got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mariot has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gygax has managed to get both his arms back between Mariot's legs - danger averted.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gygax lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mariot circles away quickly and effectively.

Gary Gygax showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Mariot shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Mariot drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mariot jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Mariot has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Gygax is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Mariot.

Mariot is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gygax's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gygax's back!

Mariot is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Gygax knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Gygax for a finish.
