Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Andy Pain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alex Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson throws a hook but Pain blocks it.

Pain closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pain lands in his opponent's guard.
Nelson keeping full guard, as Pain tries to pass.

Pain drops back looking for a leg! Nelson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Nelson manages to kick Pain off! Pain jumps back into Nelson's guard.
Pain pushes down on Nelson's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Pain stops Nelson from getting back to his feet.

Pain seems to be looking for submissions.
Pain prevents Nelson from standing back up.

Pain is working for a submission of some sort.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pain is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Nelson is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Pain looking for a guillotine from mount but Nelson is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pain won't let Nelson get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Pain looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Nelson is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Pain jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Nelson manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Pain wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Nelson, who protects the arm well.
Pain is breathing heavily.

Nelson explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Nelson looks to land a left hand but Pain moved out of range nicely.
Pain displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Nelson throws out the jab.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Pain drives through with a takedown into guard.
Pain wants to pass the guard but Nelson is keeping the position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Nelson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Pain drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pain jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Pain is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Pain stops Nelson from standing up.
Nelson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Pain pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nelson is keeping the position for now.

Pain thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Pain moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pain fails with a takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nelson catches Pain with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!


It looks like Andy Pain has been cut.

Nelson lands a big uppercut and Pain crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Pain looks OK. Nelson waves Pain back to his feet!


Pain is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nelson sends Pain crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Nelson is motioning to the referee to let Pain up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Oh Pain is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Nelson throws a jab when Pain was well out of range.
Nelson pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Pain seems to have got his legs back now.
Nelson lands a nice hook to Pain's body. Pain takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
No luck for Pain with that takedown attempt.

Nelson cracks Pain with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Nelson has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Pain to stand back up!
Pain moves away from the strike by Nelson.
Nelson loads up on a big right hand but Pain slips the punch.
Nelson lands a jab to the head.
Nelson stuns Pain with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Nelson throws a jab but it's blocked by Pain.
The fighters circling - Nelson throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Nelson scores with a jab to the jaw.
Pain slips a jab from Nelson.
Nelson jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Nelson throws a good cross that connects.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nelson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Pain has time to react.
Pain walks into a straight right hand from Nelson.
Nelson throws a jab when Pain was well out of range.
Nelson throws a jab but it's blocked by Pain.
Alex Nelson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nelson scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Nelson connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Nelson throws a jab when Pain was well out of range.
Nelson misses with an uppercut.
Nice straight punches there by Nelson. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Nelson.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Pain drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Pain is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Nelson has escaped the position, nice work there.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Nelson is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alex Nelson dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Andy Pain's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Nelson keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Pain changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nelson tries to avoid it but Pain manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nelson to the ground. Nelson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A slow jab from Nelson misses its intended target.
No luck for Pain with that takedown attempt.

Pain shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pain showed some decent athleticism there.
Nelson tries to kick Pain off but Pain keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Andy Pain overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Pain is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Nelson looks like he's trying to stand up.

Pain is trying for a kimura here. Nelson looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Pain wins by kimura!
