PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Evo Morales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Minat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Morales comes to the ring accompanied by War is my destiny. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Evo Morales!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Greg Minat!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Minat shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Morales as he avoids it easily.
Minat is trying hard to land a takedown here. Morales sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Morales connects with a right hand. Minat shakes it off.

Minat tries to sprawl but Morales drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Minat is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Morales is working for a kimura but Minat is defending it quite comfortably.
Well, if Morales is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Morales seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Minat for as long as he can get away with.

Minat is trying to stand up here but Morales is controlling him well.
Minat trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Morales manages to pass to mount!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Minat gets back to half guard.
Morales takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Morales looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Morales is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Minat defends it well.

Minat looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Morales is working for a kimura but Minat is defending it quite comfortably.
Morales trying to control the pace.

Morales is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Minat tries a head kick but it misses.
Minat tries to clinch up but Morales circles away and keeps his distance.
Minat gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Morales counters with a single leg into guard. Minat didn't expect that.
Morales not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Minat looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Morales trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Morales wants to control from the top but Minat keeps moving.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

We're going to have a standup here because Evo Morales wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Minat fails with the takedown

and Morales counters with a takedown into side control.
Morales controlling the position from side mount.

Morales is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Minat knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Minat tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Minat can't do much from the bottom here.
Morales tries to advance to mount but can't.

Morales tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Morales is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Minat's shoulder. That is not cool.

Minat tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Minat defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Morales.

Morales swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Minat is now in Morales's guard. A big mistake from Morales there, giving up the dominant position!
Morales is trying to keep Minat in close.
Minat wanted to stand there but Morales had control of the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Morales trying to control the position.

Morales is looking for a triangle but Minat pushes his legs off easily.

Morales has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Minat can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Morales has his foot on Minat's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Minat works his way back into a safe position though.

Morales is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Minat wants to clinch

and Morales counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Minat keeping moving, preventing Morales from controlling successfully.
Minat is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Minat trying to strike off his back.
Minat looking to control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Minat throws a head kick but Morales moves out of range.

Morales throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Minat tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Morales is in Minat's guard.
Minat trying to keep a closed guard but Morales is proving a slippery customer.
Minat is trying to hold Morales in close to prevent damage but Morales has managed to pass into half guard.
Morales controlling the action here.
Morales wants to pass to mount but Minat is defending the position.

Morales works his foot free and advances to mount.
Minat tries to lock up and control but Morales gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Morales controlling from the full mount.

Morales goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Minat is on top in guard.

Morales is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Minat is aware though and is defending well.
Morales is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Minat is trying to get back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Minat is trying to control but can't.

Morales is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Evo Morales overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Minat is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Morales takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Morales has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Morales wants to take a breather but Minat is having none of it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Evo Morales showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Morales has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
