Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Frank Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Batungbakal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Edgar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Batungbakal! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Batungbakal wants to clinch up but Edgar keeps it at a distance. Edgar tries to clinch there but Batungbakal circles away.
Batungbakal tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Edgar swivels and escapes. Batungbakal pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Edgar has a takedown stuffed. Edgar closes the distance but Batungbakal moves to the side and Batungbakal counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Edgar! Edgar tries to lock up and control but Batungbakal gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Edgar's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Edgar in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Batungbakal looking to control but Edgar is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Batungbakal controlling the pace for now. Batungbakal misses with a head shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Batungbakal throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Edgar because Batungbakal loaded up on that one. Edgar is looking to get to half guard. Batungbakal wants to control the pace but Edgar is squirming around nicely. A nice elbow there by Batungbakal. Batungbakal lands a big elbow.
It looks like Frank Edgar has been cut. Batungbakal has hold of Edgar's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Edgar manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Batungbakal misses with a head shot. Batungbakal trying to control but he's not successful this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Batungbakal looking to ground and pound but Edgar is blocking nicely. Edgar is trying to escape the mount.
Edgar tries to buck Batungbakal off but he can't manage it. Edgar is breathing heavily. Edgar is bucking up trying to escape but Batungbakal cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Batungbakal misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Edgar is squirming around, avoiding Batungbakal's attempts to control the action.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edgar is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Batungbakal can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Edgar is looking to escape. Edgar is in a horrible position here. Batungbakal smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Batungbakal trying to control but he's not successful this time. Batungbakal looking to secure an arm triangle but Edgar defends it well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Edgar tries to lock up and control but Batungbakal gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Batungbakal looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Edgar is squirming around, avoiding Batungbakal's attempts to control the action. Batungbakal has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Edgar is in all sorts of trouble here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Batungbakal putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Batungbakal wants to control the pace but Edgar is squirming around nicely. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Batungbakal dominated that round. The cut man is working on Frank Edgar's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Edgar rushes Batungbakal and presses him up against the cage. Edgar stalling in the clinch but Batungbakal improves position. Edgar stalls. Batungbakal has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Edgar gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Batungbakal regains guard.
Edgar advances to half guard. Edgar wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Batungbakal uses the opportunity to regain full guard. Batungbakal is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Edgar has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Batungbakal lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Edgar! Batungbakal looking to control but Edgar is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Batungbakal is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Edgar to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Edgar shrugs it off.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Batungbakal is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Edgar can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Edgar is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Batungbakal putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Edgar tries to hold on but Batungbakal postures up. Edgar is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Edgar is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Batungbakal can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Edgar is looking to escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edgar wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Batungbakal.
Batungbakal sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Batungbakal trying to control but Edgar is having none of it. Edgar doing his best to control the position. Can he escape? Batungbakal throws some wild stikes that Edgar manages to avoid easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Batungbakal is trying to control here but Edgar has managed to regain half guard.
Edgar moves into full guard.
Edgar controlling Batungbakal's posture. Edgar tries to land a sweep but no joy. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Edgar is trying to keep Batungbakal in close.
Batungbakal wants to stand but Edgar is controlling his posture from full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Batungbakal closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Edgar did well to prevent Batungbakal getting side control. Batungbakal should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Batungbakal not landing any meaningful shots this time. Batungbakal is looking to advance position but Edgar won't allow it. Edgar punching from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Batungbakal clinches but Edgar breaks the clinch and Edgar counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Batungbakal keeping moving, preventing Edgar from controlling successfully. Batungbakal wants to stand and escape but Edgar is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Edgar passes Batungbakal's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Edgar keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Batungbakal wants to get back to his feet. Edgar perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Batungbakal trying to control but Edgar postures up.
Edgar content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Edgar's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Edgar stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
