Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcos Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dwayne Moon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Marcos Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dwayne Moon!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua wants to clinch up but Moon keeps it at a distance.

Rua has taken the fight to the clinch.
Moon looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Moon wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Moon wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Rua has him pressed against the cage.
Moon is trying to force a seperation but Rua has the dominant position.
Rua is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Rua is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Moon gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Rua drops down looking for an ankle pick but Moon pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcos Rua. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rua is looking to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rua looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Moon circles away from the clinch attempt.
Moon slaps away a takedown attempt from Rua, before circling back to the center of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rua is looking to clinch but Moon is avoiding it.
Moon closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rua circles away.

Rua keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Moon's efforts to push away.
Moon tries to circle away but Rua has him pinned against the cage.
Rua has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Moon avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Rua pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Moon swats away the attempt to clinch by Rua.
Moon misses with a takedown attempt

and Rua counters by moving into the clinch.
Moon prevents a takedown attempt there.

Rua's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Moon blocks a head kick by Rua.
Moon fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Rua.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Moon.
Moon looks gassed!
Rua tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Moon wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Who's going to make the next move?
Rua is trying to control Moon's posture but Moon avoids it.
Rua is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Moon is trying to get an arm triangle but Rua is defending well.
Moon working away.

Moon tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Moon has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rua is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Moon is controlling him well.

Rua tries to buck Moon off but Moon is having none of it.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Rua pushes Moon away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Moon gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Moon tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Rua can't do much from the bottom here.

Moon looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Rua is looking to regain half guard here but Moon keeps moving and retains side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Moon tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Rua can't do much from the bottom here.
Rua manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Moon is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rua wants to get back to his feet.
Rua has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Moon is working away from the top position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Dwayne Moon will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Rua fails in his attempt to clinch.
Rua is looking to clinch but Moon is avoiding it.
Rua gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Moon counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Rua scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Moon manages to mount him!
Moon looking to control but Rua is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Moon controlling from mount.

Moon working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Moon is breathing heavily.
Rua trying desperately to get to his feet.

Moon prevents Rua from getting the reversal.
Rua is trying to stand up.
Moon misses with a head shot.
Rua knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Moon on the ground.
Moon looking to finish with strikes here!
Rua wants to control but Moon is having none of it.
Moon thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Moon looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Moon trying to control but Rua is having none of it.
Rua can't escape the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Moon controlling the pace for now.
Rua is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Rua manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Rua on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rua tries to get out of the position.

Moon decides to stand up.
Moon fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rua fails with an attempt to clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rua goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Rua tries to clinch but Moon is having none of it.

Rua shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Moon tries to get to full guard but Rua has control of the leg.
Rua slips a nice elbow through Moon's hands, connecting with Moon's forehead.
Rua is keen to just control but Moon is a slippery customer.
Moon avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Rua.
Rua missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Moon blocking the ground and pound attempt from Rua.
Rua wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Moon uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

Rua avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Rua is looking to stand up but Moon won't let him.

Moon pushes Rua off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Rua tries to close the distance and clinch but Moon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rua tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Moon decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rua's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rua is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Rua uses the cage to get back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rua leaves Moon with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Rua wants to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dwayne Moon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Rua tries to close the distance and clinch but Moon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rua closes this distance looking for a takedown but Moon circles away.
Moon throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rua's waist but Rua gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Moon off to one side.
Moon blocks a head kick by Rua.
Moon is trying hard to land a takedown here. Rua sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Rua shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Moon as he avoids it easily.
Moon ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moon fails with a takedown attempt.
Marcos Rua has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dwayne Moon.
Rua tries to close the distance and clinch but Moon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Rua darts in trying to clinch

and Moon counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rua won't be happy with that.

Rua can't do much from the bottom here.

Moon is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rua is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Rua tries to bench press Moon off him but Moon keeps the position.
Rua is not content to let Moon control the position.

Rua throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
A slapping leg kick lands for Rua.

Rua swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Rua tries to clinch but Moon moves out of range.
Marcos Rua is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Moon tries to bum rush Rua with a series of wild strikes but Rua uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Moon drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Rua wants to get back to his feet but Moon drags him back down.
Rua tries to bench press Moon off him but Moon keeps the position.

Moon working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
You can see the frustration on Rua's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Moon fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Rua is looking for a sweep.
Rua stops Moon from passing to mount.
Rua wants to control but Moon postures up.
Moon trying to control the position but Rua is working away.
Rua is looking to reverse the position.
Rua is trying to buck Moon off.
Marcos Rua has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Moon is looking to take a break and control but Rua is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Rua is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Moon has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Moon decides to stand back up. Moon steps back and let's Rua get back to his feet.

Moon feints and as Rua raises his hands in defense, Moon changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Moon trying to control the position from guard on top but Rua is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rua trying to keep a closed guard but Moon is proving a slippery customer.
Moon working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Dwayne Moon is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Rua trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dwayne Moon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Moon winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
