Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rudy Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dwayne Hicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fernandez comes to the cage accompanied by God of Hell Fire. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rudy Fernandez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dwayne Hicks! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fernandez misses the shot to the body. Hicks scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Hicks lands a jab-cross combination. Fernandez clinches with his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Fernandez forces his way into half guard. Fernandez performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Fernandez is keen to just control but Hicks is a slippery customer. Fernandez prevents Hicks from improving his position. Fernandez winds up and cracks Hicks with a swinging punch to the side of the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hicks ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Fernandez moves away. Fernandez tries to clinch but Hicks moves out of range. Hicks throws a half hearted mid kick. Fernandez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Fernandez tries to move to full mount but Hicks actually manages to regain half guard. Fernandez wants to pass to mount but Hicks is defending the position. Fernandez thows a huge punch but Hicks dodges it nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fernandez is taking a breather. Hicks says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Hicks wants to control but Fernandez is keeping busy.
Fernandez is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Fernandez wants to free his trapped foot but Hicks is holding on for dear life with his legs. Fernandez thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hicks's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Fernandez throwing shots but Hicks is blocking nicely. Hicks won't allow Fernandez to pass to mount. Fernandez looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Hicks lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Fernandez takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Hicks throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Fernandez looks for the body kick but Hicks saw that one coming. Hicks tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fernandez swats him away and circles back towards the center. Fernandez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hicks is fending him off so far but Fernandez persists. Nope, Hicks circles away and we're back to standing. Hicks tries to clinch up. Fernandez takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Hicks fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fernandez manages to avoid it. Fernandez closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Hicks has a couple of punches blocked by Fernandez.
Fernandez wants to stall.
Hicks misses with a punch to the body.
Hicks works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Fernandez manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Fernandez has his foot on Hicks's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hicks works his way back into a safe position though. Fernandez has a closed guard, preventing Hicks from standing up. Fernandez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Rudy Fernandez just wasn't active enough. Hicks throws a lazy right hand but Fernandez sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Fernandez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hicks swats him away and circles back towards the center. Hicks tries to land a body kick and Fernandez counters with a low kick, right behind Hicks 's knee. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Fernandez counters with a leg kick. Dwayne Hicks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice body kick there by Hicks. A lazy body kick from Hicks and Fernandez counters with a solid body kick. Hicks tries a head kick but it misses.
Hicks tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Fernandez was well out of range. Poor timing from Hicks. Hicks works the jab nicely. Hicks scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Fernandez uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hicks.
Fernandez lands with a nice combination. Hicks backs away looking to recover. A momentary lapse in concentration from Hicks enables Fernandez to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hicks manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Fernandez seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hicks wants to sweep but no luck. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hicks holds on and takes a little breather. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Fernandez throwing strikes but missing.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Fernandez feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Hicks's calf.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Fernandez tries to clinch up. Fernandez throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Hicks. Hicks misses with a left hand and Fernandez makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Hicks misses with an uppercut. Hicks misses with a hook. Fernandez lands with a good body shot. Fernandez with a body punch. A glancing blow. Hicks throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Fernandez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Dwayne Hicks is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hicks misses with a leg kick and Fernandez counters with a series of strikes. Hicks will be more careful next time no doubt. Fernandez thows a leg kick but Hicks checks it and Hicks counters with a stiff right hand. Hicks throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Fernandez moves in looking to clinch but Hicks pushes him off. Fernandez fails in his attempt to clinch. Fernandez throws a body punch but Hicks moves out of range. Hicks looks to land a right hand but Fernandez moved out of range. Dwayne Hicks has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Fernandez lands with a good body shot. Hicks gets caught napping as Fernandez dives in and scores a takedown. Hicks manages to retain guard. Hicks is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Fernandez wants to pass the guard but Hicks is defending well. Fernandez working over Hicks with some ground and pound.
