Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Methot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacques Mehoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Patrick Methot! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jacques Mehoff! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! That kick from Mehoff tenderised Methot's leg. Methot is trying to keep his angry face on. Mehoff fails in his attempt to clinch. A looping hook to the body misses from Methot. Mehoff does a little dance to reset his feet. Methot fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mehoff manages to avoid it. Some wild striking there from Methot.
Methot misses with a hook. Methot will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Mehoff cracks Methot with a good jab. Mehoff changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Methot tries to avoid it but Mehoff manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Methot to the ground. Methot escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Mehoff gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Mehoff lands an elbow inside that Methot shrugs off. Methot wants to get back to striking at distance but Mehoff won't allow it.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Methot jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mehoff walks away with a smile on his face. Methot gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Nice cross by Mehoff. Methot takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Mehoff looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Methot gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Mehoff counters with a lovely straight right hand! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Patrick Methot. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mehoff throws a jab but it's blocked by Methot. Methot looking for a takedown here - he's got it. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Mehoff can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Methot controls the pace. Mehoff wants to stand but Methot is controlling the position.

Methot drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mehoff manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Methot has Mehoff in his guard. Mehoff wants to control from the top but Methot keeps moving. Methot being controlled here, momentarily. Methot is trying to control the position but Mehoff postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mehoff throwing strikes but missing. Mehoff tries to stand but Methot is controlling from the bottom. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Some wild striking there from Mehoff.
Decent striking displayed by Mehoff there. Mehoff stuffs the takedown attempt from Methot. Methot gets slowly back to his feet. Methot throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Mehoff ducks under a wild hook from Methot. Methot scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Mehoff avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Mehoff swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
letting Methot counter with a right hand. Mehoff is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Methot. Methot throws a predictable looking body shot
and Mehoff counters with a takedown into side control. Mehoff trying to control the position but Methot is working away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Methot tries to get back to half guard but can't. Mehoff decides to stand up, so the ref orders Methot to his feet. Methot uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Mehoff has time to react. Mehoff ducks under a wild hook from Methot. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mehoff tries to close the distance and clinch but Methot swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Mehoff cracks the inside of Methot's front leg. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Methot is defended easily by Mehoff. Some wild striking there from Mehoff.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Methot. Methot shoots in for a double leg but Mehoff sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Methot drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mehoff pushes Methot away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Methot gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Methot throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Methot landing a few strikes. Mehoff dodges the ground and pound from Methot. Methot wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mehoff, who protects the arm well. Mehoff pushes Methot away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Methot gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Methot scores with punches from side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mehoff wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Methot working the ground and pound from side control. Methot throws a strike aimed at the side of Mehoff's head but Mehoff avoids it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Methot cracks Mehoff with a big right hand but Mehoff just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Methot scores with a couple of short elbows. Methot wants to control but Mehoff is keeping him busy. Methot misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Methot in side control, throwing shots but Mehoff defends. Methot is working Mehoff over with some ground and pound from side control. Methot in side control lands a decent elbow. Mehoff is pushing Methot's head away, looking to escape. Methot manages to hold on to the position though. Methot working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Methot trying to control the position but Mehoff is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Methot has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Methot throwing shots but missing, from side control. Mehoff pushes Methot away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Methot gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Mehoff is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Methot is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mehoff is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Methot trying to control the position but Mehoff is working away. Methot has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Patrick Methot dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Mehoff has managed to clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Methot's face as he tries to break the clinch. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Methot can't get the takedown.
Methot tries to break the clinch but Mehoff is controlling the position. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Mehoff obliges. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mehoff connects with a knee to the head.
It looks like Patrick Methot has been cut. Mehoff landing knees to the body.
Methot is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Mehoff manages to break the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Methot throws a hook but Mehoff blocks it. Methot throws a leg kick and Mehoff counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Mehoff swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Methot counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mehoff! Methot with a couple of short strikes. Patrick Methot overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Mehoff bucks up and throws Methot to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape! Mehoff lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Methot circles away quickly and effectively. Mehoff just misses with a punch to the body.
Methot misses with a body kick. Good standup being displayed there by Methot as he connects with a hook. Methot has his takedown stuffed and Mehoff counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Methot scores with a jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mehoff will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Methot tries for a takedown but Mehoff circles away easily and Mehoff counters with a series of strikes. Methot will be more careful next time no doubt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Patrick Methot. That's going to take a lot out of him. Methot with a poor takedown and Mehoff counters with a nice double leg into half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mehoff slows the pace down in half guard. Mehoff wants to stand up but Methot has a hold of him and won't allow it. Mehoff takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Methot is trying to get back to full guard. Methot preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mehoff is looking to stall here but Methot recovers full guard. Methot wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Methot keeping moving, preventing Mehoff from controlling successfully. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Mehoff wants to stand and escape but instead Methot has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Mehoff wants to stand and escape but Methot is having none of it. Methot wants to control from the top but Mehoff keeps moving. Methot cracks Mehoff with a solid left hand. Mehoff utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Methot wants to control from the top but Mehoff keeps moving.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Jacques Mehoff. I think Mehoff has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
