PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Power (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oliver Pronser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Power's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Alexander Marcus - Mega. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Power!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Oliver Pronser!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pronser tries to close the distance and clinch but Power swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Power circles away from the clinch attempt.
Pronser moves in looking to clinch but Power pushes him off.

Pronser gets the takedown into side control.
Pronser taking a breather here.

Pronser stands up and beckons Power to his feet.
Pronser is looking to clinch but Power is avoiding it.
Pronser tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Power manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Pronser lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Power circles away quickly and effectively.
Pronser tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Power was well out of range. Poor timing from Pronser.
Pronser scores with a spinning back kick!
Power is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Power shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pronser as he avoids it easily.

Pronser shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Power is trying to defend but Pronser finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Pronser gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
The fight stays on the outside here - Pronser looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Power is looking to clinch.
Pronser throws a head kick that misses.
Pronser fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Pronser lands with a kick to the temple. Power shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"


It looks like Jack Power has been cut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Power clinches up against the cage.

Pronser breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Pronser misses with a double jab.
Pronser wants to clinch

and Power counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Pronser breaks from the clinch.
Pronser misses with a low kick.
Power leaves Pronser with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Power buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Pronser slaps away a takedown attempt from Power, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Power tries for a takedown but Pronser sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Power. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pronser clinches but Power breaks the clinch

and Power moves into the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pronser wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Power working hard to break the clinch.

Pronser escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pronser tries to clinch but Power is having none of it.

Pronser clinches up against the cage.
Power tries to pull guard but Pronser holds him up against the cage and eventually Power drops back down to his feet.

Pronser breaks from the clinch.
Pronser fails with an attempt to clinch.

Power tries to sprawl but Pronser drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Power is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Pronser jumps into side control!

Pronser decides to take the fight back to the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pronser tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Power paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Power defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Pronser.
Power fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Pronser looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Pronser tries to keep at a distance but Power has taken the fight into the clinch.
Pronser blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Pronser manages to break the clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pronser closes the distance looking to clinch

so Power counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Power thows a big elbow that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Oliver Pronser dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jack Power's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Power circles away from the clinch attempt

and Power counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Pronser's guard now.
Power is fighting to break Pronser's control of his arms but Pronser is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Power wants to control from the top but Pronser keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Oliver Pronser.
Power throws a head kick but Pronser moves out of range.
Power blocks a head kick by Pronser.
Pronser tries to clinch but Power moves away
and Power counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Pronser moves in looking to clinch but Power pushes him off.
Jack Power is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Pronser closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Power trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Power can't escape the position.
Power is working hard here to advance position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pronser controlling from mount.

Pronser is working for a guillotine from mount but Power frees his head quite easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Power working to try and regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jack Power will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Jack Power's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


No luck with that takedown attempt from Pronser.
Pronser shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Power as he avoids it easily.
Pronser wants to clinch

and Power counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Power.
Power advances position into side control!
Pronser tries to escape but Power is in control.
Power scores with a couple of short elbows.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee asks Power politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Power prefers to stall for the moment though.
Pronser tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Power tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Power has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Pronser sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Power stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Pronser misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Pronser shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Pronser is stalling in the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pronser forces his way into half guard.
Power works his way to full guard. Good work.
Power trying to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Power had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Pronser defends it easily.
Power is trying to hold Pronser in close to prevent damage but Pronser has managed to pass into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jack Power showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Power has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
