PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lee Evan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Urias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Evan's entrance music is Here come the boom. A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lee Evan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Urias!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Donald Grub and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Evan shoots in looking for a takedown. Urias tries to sprawl out of it but Evan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Urias manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A head kick misses from Urias.
Evan lands with a kick to the temple. Urias shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Evan throws a head kick that misses
and Urias counters with a head kick.

Evan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Urias, pushing him back against the cage.
Evan using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Urias has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Evan misses with a knee strike.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Evan unloads a knee to the mid-section. Urias lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Stalling in the clinch from Evan.
Urias wants to get back to striking at distance but Evan won't allow it.
Evan tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Evan stalling the fight.
Urias drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Urias wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Evan throws a knee to the head but misses.
Evan keeps control of Urias as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Evan lands a left hand that snaps the head of Urias backwards.
Urias tries for a takedown but Evan manages to get underhooks.

Urias wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Evan has him pressed against the cage.
Urias wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Urias wants to get back to striking at distance but Evan won't allow it.

Urias has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Evan is trying to keep an underhook but Urias manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Evan pushes Urias off and gets back to his feet.
Evan throws a lazy head kick

and Urias counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Evan pushes Urias off looking to stand but Urias dives back in and keeps control.
Urias looks gassed!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Evan pushes Urias off but Urias dives into side control.
Evan is looking to get back to his feet here but Urias is keeping cool and he's managed to take Evan's back.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Evan is trying to break free.
Good control from Urias.
Urias keeps control of the position as Evan tries to break free.
Evan prevents Urias from getting a body triangle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Urias dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Urias shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Evan counters with a nice double leg into side control. Urias won't be happy with that.
Evan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Urias keeps working.
Evan tries to stand but Urias controls the position and pulls Evan into his guard.
Evan tries to free his leg and advance position but Urias is retaining full guard.

Urias looking to hit a scissor sweep but Evan is one step ahead there.
Urias is breathing heavily.
Urias keeping moving, preventing Evan from controlling successfully.
Evan has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Urias is proving hard to escape from.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Urias is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Evan throws a head kick but Urias moves out of range.

and Evan counters with a head kick.

Evan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Urias sprawls well initially but Evan persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Urias moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Evan stands and steps away. Urias gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Evan throws a series of punches but Urias moves out of range.

Urias moves into range and clinches up with Evan.
Urias is trying to break free.
Evan throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Urias blocks it with crossed arms.

Evan has picked Urias up - he's going for a ride! Evan dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Urias gets back to full guard.

Evan gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nice takedown defense from Urias. No joy for Evan on that attempt.
Evan circles away from the clinch attempt
and Evan counters with a huge head kick that drops Urias! The ref dives in to stop the fight and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lee Evan!
