Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Branko Bananko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hurricane Bowers!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Kenichi Hosakawa and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bananko shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bowers defends it nicely.
Bowers looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Bowers has his takedown stuffed

and Bananko counters by moving into the clinch.

Bananko has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Bowers regains guard immediately.
Bananko looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Bananko's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Bananko gets to his feet. Bowers looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Bananko.

Bananko is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bowers is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Bananko creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Bananko stands up and beckons Bowers to his feet.

Bananko closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bowers to the mat! Bowers manages to get full guard.
Bananko is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Bananko decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Bananko instigates a clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bananko changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Bowers fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Bananko decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Bananko lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Well, if Bananko is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bowers has hold of Bananko's hands but Bananko slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Bananko lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bowers circles away quickly and effectively.
Bowers clinches but Bananko breaks the clinch

and Bananko counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Bananko is stalling in the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Branko Bananko.
Bananko shoots in and drives through. Bowers sprawls well.

Bananko closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bananko lands in his opponent's guard.
Bowers is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bowers is looking to stand up but Bananko isn't so interested in that idea.
Bananko postures up in Bowers's guard and throws a big left but Bowers blocks it.
Bananko stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bowers swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Bananko's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bowers is trying to control the position but Bananko postures up.
Bowers being controlled here, momentarily.
Bowers is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Bananko dives into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bananko taking a breather here.
Bananko seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bowers for as long as he can get away with.
Bowers on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Bananko remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Bananko's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Bananko duly obliges.
Bananko throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bowers.
No luck for Bananko with that takedown attempt.

Bananko is looking to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bananko controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Bowers working a defensive guard but Bananko manages to pass into side control anyway.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Branko Bananko overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Bowers bucks up and tries to throw Bananko off but instead Bananko has got his back!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bowers rolls, trying to escape but Bananko keeps control of the position.
Bowers trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Bananko scores with punches and elbows.

Bananko has got one arm under Bowers's chin. This could be trouble... Bowers trying to control the other hand but Bananko gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Bowers has tapped out! The fight is over!
