Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Truan Mehl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Redcap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mehl closes the distance and clinches. Mehl breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Redcap tries to clinch but Mehl moves away and Mehl counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Mehl taking a breather. Mehl ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mehl no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Redcap wants to control from the top but Mehl keeps moving. Mehl is trying to keep Redcap in close.
Redcap really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mehl. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Redcap trying to control the position from guard on top but Mehl is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Redcap postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Redcap is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Redcap is looking to work some ground and pound but Mehl has wrist control. Redcap scoring with some ground and pound.

Mehl is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Redcap is aware though and is defending well. Redcap works over Mehl with some ground and pound from guard. Redcap stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mehl swivels though and keeps the full guard. Redcap is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. That's two minutes gone in the round. Redcap distracts Mehl with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Redcap trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. That's three minutes gone in the round. Redcap slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up. George Redcap was stalling too much, according to the referee. Redcap misses with a takedown attempt and Mehl counters with a head kick. That will keep Redcap thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Mehl paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Mehl tries to clinch up but Redcap circles away and keeps his distance. Redcap shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Mehl moves into the clinch. Redcap takes a knee right on the jaw!

Mehl scores with a nice strike. Mehl throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Mehl rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Redcap moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Mehl moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Redcap takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Redcap is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mehl's half guard. Redcap throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mehl wants to control but Redcap is keeping busy.
Redcap looks to score some points with some ground and pound. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Redcap connects with a nice short shot to Mehl's temple. Redcap drops an elbow to the side of Mehl's head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Redcap wants to pass to mount but Mehl is defending the position. Mehl is trying to control but can't.
Well, if Redcap is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

George Redcap dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Redcap fails in his attempt to clinch. Mehl gets a clinch. Redcap goes for a takedown attempt but Mehl pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Mehl closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Mehl trying to control the action but Redcap is working from the bottom. Mehl prevents Redcap from standing back up.
Mehl is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Redcap sees it coming and defends easily. Redcap is not content to let Mehl control the position. Redcap is breathing heavily. Redcap is looking to escape. Redcap regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Mehl.
That's one minute gone in the round. Redcap utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Mehl passes Redcap's left leg - he's now in half guard. Mehl is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Redcap defends it well. Redcap is trying to stand back up but Mehl is controlling him

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Redcap is trying to stand.

Redcap is trying to stand up here but Mehl is controlling him well. Mehl is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Redcap to slip a leg under and get back to full guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Redcap can do anything to dispel that myth. Redcap uses the cage to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Redcap has his takedown stuffed and Mehl counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Redcap is lucky that one didn't land flush. Truan Mehl has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George Redcap. Mehl slaps away a takedown attempt from Redcap, before circling back to the center of the mat. Redcap shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mehl but Mehl pushes him off and we're back to square one. Mehl throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Redcap. Redcap takes one to the chin there. Mehl pushes Redcap up against the cage in a clinch. Redcap is working for takedown but Mehl is calmly controlling the position for now. Redcap throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mehl works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Redcap tries to free his leg and advance position but Mehl is retaining full guard. Oh, Redcap has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Mehl wants to control but Redcap postures up. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mehl regains half guard, as Redcap was trying to land strikes. Redcap is pressing down on Mehl's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mehl is holding on for now. Mehl is pressing down on Redcap's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Redcap is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Redcap is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Redcap working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Mehl's head. Redcap looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Redcap must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Redcap trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Redcap thows a big elbow that misses. Redcap is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Redcap stands up over Mehl, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Redcap with a flurry of punches that miss. Mehl avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Mehl manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Mehl is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Redcap has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Redcap! Redcap is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Truan Mehl. I think Mehl has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
