0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sergei Yakovlev! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Dean Styles and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rasic closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Yakovlev is trying to get back to his feet. Check out the look on Rasic's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Rasic scores with a couple of short elbows. Rasic creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rasic moves into full mount! Rasic looking to secure an arm triangle but Yakovlev defends it well. Yakovlev takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rasic landing strikes from the mount. Rasic with shots to the head and body - Yakovlev looks very uncomfortable down there.

Denis Rasic dominated that round. The cut man is working on Sergei Yakovlev's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Rasic shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Rasic is in close to Yakovlev's body, working some short punches and elbows. Yakovlev utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Rasic advances to half guard. Nice strikes from Rasic there. Rasic lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Rasic is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Yakovlev can do to turn this around? Rasic stops Yakovlev from getting back to his feet.
Yakovlev is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Rasic scores with a couple of nice shots. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Rasic looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Yakovlev with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rasic landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Yakovlev taking some punishment here, with Rasic in his half guard. Yakovlev is in trouble now - Rasic has advanced to mount! Rasic connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Rasic lands a nice shot to the head. Rasic punishing his opponent with strikes. Rasic pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Denis Rasic overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Rasic raining down shots from the mount!
