PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kirill Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kot Vaska (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kot Vaska told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kirill Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kot Vaska!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Fedor Mirinova and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brown forces Vaska back against the cage and clinches.
Brown is pressed up against the cage. Vaska has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Brown down to the mat. Brown avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Brown is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Brown tries to clinch up but Vaska circles away and keeps his distance.
Brown misses with a hook.
Vaska tries to score a power double leg takedown but Brown sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Vaska somewhat.
Vaska swats away the attempt to clinch by Brown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Vaska shoots in looking for a takedown. Brown tries to sprawl out of it but Vaska keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Brown manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kirill Brown has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kot Vaska.
Brown feints and then cracks Vaska's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Vaska down.
Vaska keeps the fight on the outside.
Brown wants to clinch up but Vaska keeps it at a distance.
Vaska looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Brown is fending him off so far but Vaska persists. Nope, Brown circles away and we're back to standing.
Vaska shoots in but no luck this time.
Kirill Brown is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Brown tries a head kick but it misses.
Brown throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


It looks like Kot Vaska has been cut.
Brown tries to clinch but Vaska moves out of range.

Vaska drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Vaska working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Vaska drops back looking for a leg! Brown is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Brown manages to kick Vaska off! Vaska jumps back into Brown's guard.
Brown is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vaska trying to control but Brown is working from the bottom.
Vaska in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Vaska is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Brown wants to sweep but no luck.
Vaska working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vaska comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Kirill Brown is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Vaska takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Brown tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Vaska shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Brown but Brown pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Brown tries to land a front kick but Vaska steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Brown wants to clinch up but Vaska keeps it at a distance.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Vaska avoiding damage as Brown throws knees to the body.

Brown connects with a nasty looking knee right to Vaska's face.
Vaska has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Brown avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

With the fighters up against the cage, Brown throws an elbow but misses.
Brown's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Vaska lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Brown is looking for a sweep. Vaska is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Vaska is trying to control. Brown wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Vaska thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Vaska seems to be looking for submissions.

Vaska is working for a submission of some sort.
Vaska prevents Brown from standing back up.

Vaska is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Brown is defending against the submission attempts here by Vaska.

Vaska looking to control but Brown is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Vaska is working for a guillotine from mount but Brown frees his head quite easily.

Vaska goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Brown is on top in guard.

A close second round but Kot Vaska will probably get the nod - 10:9.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Vaska has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Brown is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
A bit of stalling here from Brown.
Vaska drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Vaska is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Brown gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
The referee is keeping an eye on Brown - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Brown tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Vaska avoids it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Vaska is trying hard to land a takedown here. Brown sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Brown tries to close the distance and clinch up but Vaska swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Brown throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Vaska's head.
Vaska avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Horrible takedown by Vaska or perhaps it was just good defense by Brown which made him look bad.

Brown tries to close the distance and clinch up but Vaska swats him away and circles back towards the center.
