Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Timmy Varas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martti Nakutin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Timmy Varas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Martti Nakutin!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Saam Ante and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nakutin connects with a solid leg kick.

Varas closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Nakutin quickly recovers to half guard.
Nakutin is concentrating on defense, preventing Varas from advancing position.
Varas thows a huge punch but Nakutin dodges it nicely.
Nakutin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Varas's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Varas's back!
Varas needs to remain patient if he's going to get out of this sticky situation.
Varas is in bad spot here.
Varas is working hard here to advance position.
Nakutin tries to keep control of the position but Varas is staying busy.
Varas trying to control the hands but Nakutin breaks the grip.
Nakutin is hanging on to Varas's back as he tries to escape.
Nakutin keeps control of the position easily here as Varas tries to buck him off.

Nakutin is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Varas defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Nakutin gets his hands free as Varas looks to control.
I would not like to be Varas right now.
Varas can't escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Varas is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Nakutin.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Varas is really stuck here.
Nakutin controlling the position well here. Varas rolled but Nakutin kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
You can see the frustration on Varas's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Varas staying busy and making it hard for Nakutin to control.
Nakutin just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Martti Nakutin hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Varas is looking to clinch but Nakutin is avoiding it.
Nakutin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nakutin wants it to stay on the feet.

Nakutin gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Nakutin tries to land knees in the clinch but Varas avoids the damage to the body.
Nakutin gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Varas.
Varas can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Timmy Varas. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nakutin gets underhooks to prevent Varas's takedown attempt.
Varas tries a body shot but Nakutin blocks it.
A short left from Nakutin.
Nakutin landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Varas is breathing heavily.
Nakutin lands a knee to the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nakutin connects with a knee to the head.
Nakutin unloads a knee to the mid-section. Varas lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Varas takes an elbow to the temple.


It looks like Timmy Varas has been cut.

Nakutin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nakutin throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Varas crumples to the floor and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Martti Nakutin!
