Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johann Jennsensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edward Newgate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jennsensen comes into the arena with Florence and the Machine - You've Got the Love blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johann Jennsensen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Edward Newgate! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Newgate shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jennsensen's guard. Newgate would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Newgate connects with a couple of short punches. Newgate controlling from the top position. Jennsensen is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Newgate wants to stand but Jennsensen has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Jennsensen looking for a guillotine here but Newgate defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jennsensen not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jennsensen wants to stand and escape but Newgate is having none of it. Newgate pushes down on Jennsensen's leg and manages to get into half guard. Newgate gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Newgate fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jennsensen manages to avoid it. Jennsensen connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Jennsensen circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jennsensen tries to clinch up but Newgate circles away and keeps his distance. Newgate avoids the head kick by Jennsensen.
Newgate defending well as Jennsensen loads up on a big left hand. Jennsensen connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Newgate's hands. Newgate clinches but Jennsensen breaks the clinch and Jennsensen counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jennsensen.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jennsensen landing knees to the head.
Jennsensen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Newgate scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Jennsensen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. BOOM! Jennsensen connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Jennsensen goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Newgate is on top in guard.
Jennsensen is breathing heavily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jennsensen is looking for a triangle but Newgate pushes his legs off easily.
Newgate slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Jennsensen is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Newgate decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jennsensen, up you get! Newgate throws a nice inside leg kick. Johann Jennsensen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Newgate tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Newgate is looking to slow Jennsensen down with leg kicks. Newgate throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jennsensen was covering up waiting for the punch and Newgate finishes the takedown easily into guard. Jennsensen has his foot on Newgate's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Newgate works his way back into a safe position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Newgate decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jennsensen throws a head kick but Newgate moves out of range.
Newgate shoots in and bounces Jennsensen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Newgate not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Newgate trying to control but Jennsensen is working from the bottom. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Newgate won't allow Jennsensen to get back to his feet. Newgate won't allow Jennsensen to sweep him here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Edward Newgate dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Newgate shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Jennsensen counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Newgate is looking to control Jennsensen's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Newgate avoid being mounted? Jennsensen blocks the strikes from Newgate.
Jennsensen wants to pass to mount but Newgate is defending the position. Jennsensen wants to control but Newgate is keeping him busy. Jennsensen takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Newgate is not content to let Jennsensen control the position. Jennsensen seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Newgate wants to improve his position but Jennsensen is controlling well.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Jennsensen lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Jennsensen throws a head kick that misses. Johann Jennsensen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Excellent takedown into side control there by Jennsensen. Edward Newgate has got the better of the ground game so far. Jennsensen working away. Newgate wants to get back to his feet. Jennsensen is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Newgate knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Newgate is trying to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jennsensen thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Jennsensen tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Newgate sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Newgate tries to get to full guard but Jennsensen has control of the leg. Newgate kicks off Jennsensen and gets to his feet. Jennsensen tests Newgate's chin there with a solid looking shot. Jennsensen moves in looking to clinch but Newgate pushes him off. Jennsensen scores with a jab to the head.
Newgate tries to clinch up. Jennsensen ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Jennsensen scores with a head kick.
Jennsensen throws a sloppy head kick and Newgate counters with a stiff right hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jennsensen takes the fight into the clinch. Jennsensen jumps guard.
Jennsensen looking for a sweep. Not yet Jennsensen, not yet. Jennsensen keeping moving, preventing Newgate from controlling successfully. Jennsensen controls Newgate momentarily but Newgate frees himself. Jennsensen is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Newgate defends well. Newgate throws and elbow that misses. Jennsensen uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Newgate's guard. Nice move by Jennsensen! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Johann Jennsensen dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Jennsensen throws a head kick that Newgate semi-blocks.
Jennsensen throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Nice takedown defense from Jennsensen. No joy for Newgate on that attempt. Jennsensen bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Jennsensen decides to stand back up. Jennsensen steps back and let's Newgate get back to his feet. Jennsensen goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Jennsensen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Jennsensen darts in and clinches Newgate up against the cage. Jennsensen breaks the clinch.
Newgate throws out a loose jab but Jennsensen uses good head movement to avoid it. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Jennsensen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Newgate shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Jennsensen counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jennsensen.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jennsensen jumps into guard, dragging Newgate to the mat.
Jennsensen throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Newgate escapes and throws Jennsensen's legs to the side, diving into side control! Jennsensen being controlled for a moment. Newgate decides to stand back up. Newgate steps back and let's Jennsensen get back to his feet. Jennsensen connects with the punch. Jennsensen wanted to stand there but Newgate had control of the position. Newgate has his hands on Jennsensen's head, controlling the position. Jennsensen advances position into side control! Newgate is looking to regain half guard here but Jennsensen keeps moving and retains side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jennsensen tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Jennsensen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Newgate keeps working. Newgate defending against the ground and pound. Newgate tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Newgate is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Jennsensen off and has taken his back! Newgate doesn't have the hooks in and Jennsensen manages to turn into his guard.
Jennsensen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Newgate tries to land a sweep but no joy. Jennsensen tries to free his leg and advance position but Newgate is retaining full guard. Newgate trying to keep a closed guard but Jennsensen is proving a slippery customer.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Newgate is on top in guard.
Jennsensen throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Newgate escapes and throws Jennsensen's legs to the side, diving into side control!
And that's the end of the fight! Johann Jennsensen showed his dominance in that final round. Well Jennsensen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
