Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tom Cat! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rocki Balboa! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Balboa lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Balboa goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Nice takedown defense from Balboa. No joy for Cat on that attempt. Balboa lands with a thumping leg kick.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Balboa, right into the meat.
Balboa stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Balboa wants it to stay on the feet. Nice sprawl there from Balboa as Cat shoots in. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tom Cat. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cat shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Balboa as he jumps to the side. Balboa shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Cat is breathing heavily. Balboa scoring with strikes to the body and head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Balboa working over Cat with some ground and pound. Cat looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cat wants to get back to full guard. Balboa performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Balboa tries to stand but can't do so whilst Cat controls his leg.
That's one minute gone in the round. Balboa is trying to work for a kimura but Cat is defending well.
Balboa prevents Cat from improving his position. Balboa is looking to take a break and control but Cat is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Cat looking for submissions off his back. Balboa tries to pass to full mount but Cat defends it. Balboa tries to stand and escape but Cat is controlling the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Cat has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Balboa. Oh but Cat has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Balboa goes limp - he's gone! Cat jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Tom Cat!
