The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzales looks to score with a jab to the body but Baller is just out of range.

Gonzales throws a shot from downtown. Baller moves away and avoids it.
Hugo Gonzales seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gonzales drops his hands momentarily and Baller takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Baller can do anything to dispel that myth.

Baller is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Gonzales closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Baller is staying active underneath Gonzales, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Gonzales is looking to stall here but Baller recovers full guard.

Gonzales wants to pass the guard but Baller is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Baller wants to stand and escape but Gonzales is having none of it.

Baller pushes Gonzales off and scrambles back to his feet.
Gonzales swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Baller counters with a left and a right that stings Gonzales.
Baller's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Baller duly obliges.
Baller is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Gonzales throws a lazy right hand but Baller sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Gonzales displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Baller throws out the jab.
Gonzales throws a nice looking combination but Baller bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Baller swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Baller uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Gonzales.

and Baller counters with a one-two to the body.
Baller works Gonzales's body with a nice hook.
Baller rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gonzales moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gonzales doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Baller counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Baller lands a jab to the head.


Gonzales is rocked!
Crack! Baller connects with the perfect overhand right and Gonzales falls face first to the canvas. Timbeeeeeeeer! Beautiful knockout for Baller!
