Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Red Runner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Lassiter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Runner might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Sweet Ride. Lassiter is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Hey Superstar - Madina Lake. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Red Runner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Lassiter! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Reed Andrews and Franklyn Lucas.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lassiter tries to close the distance and clinch but Runner swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Runner looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Lassiter fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Lassiter moves in looking to clinch but Runner pushes him off.
Lassiter clinches up against the cage. Lassiter landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Lassiter breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lassiter tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Runner paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lassiter takes the fight into the clinch. Lassiter lands a nice knee to the body. Runner takes a knee to the side of the body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lassiter breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Lassiter jumps guard and drags Runner to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Lassiter has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Runner off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Lassiter is looking to clinch but Runner is avoiding it.

Paul Lassiter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Runner takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Lassiter fails with an attempt to clinch.

Runner trying to control the position from guard on top but Lassiter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lassiter wants to stand and escape but Runner is having none of it. Runner has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Lassiter keeping moving, preventing Runner from controlling successfully. Lassiter is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Runner is controlling him.
 Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Lassiter wants to clinch up but Runner keeps it at a distance.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. The fight stays on the outside here - Lassiter looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Lassiter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Runner but Runner pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Runner darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Lassiter is refusing to be controlled, as Runner sits in half guard.
Lassiter pushes Runner off and gets back to his feet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The fight stays on the outside here - Lassiter looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Runner shoots in and drives through. Lassiter sprawls well. Lassiter tries to clinch up. And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Runner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lassiter swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lassiter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Runner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Lassiter keeping moving, preventing Runner from controlling successfully. Lassiter is looking to stand up but Runner isn't so interested in that idea. Runner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lassiter on the ground. Runner controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Lassiter can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Runner controls the pace. Runner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lassiter swivels though and keeps the full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lassiter keeping moving, preventing Runner from controlling successfully. Lassiter wants to stand and escape but Runner is having none of it. Runner wants to control from the top but Lassiter keeps moving. Runner wants to get up but he can't break Lassiter's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Lassiter wants to clinch. Red Runner is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Runner lands a jab to the nose. The fight stays on the outside here - Lassiter looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Runner rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lassiter moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Lassiter tries to close the distance and clinch up but Runner swats him away and circles back towards the center. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Runner is defended easily by Lassiter. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Red Runner. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Paul Lassiter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

and Runner counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Runner is looking to stand up but Lassiter won't let him. Runner trying to control the position from guard on top but Lassiter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Runner won't allow Lassiter to sweep him here. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lassiter is on top in guard.
Lassiter drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lassiter jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Lassiter being controlled here momentarily. Runner looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Runner shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Lassiter tries to kick Runner off but Runner keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Runner controlling the action here.

Runner swats away the attempt to clinch by Lassiter.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Lassiter crunches a lovely knee into Runner's ribcage.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Lassiter is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Lassiter with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Red Runner. I think Lassiter has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
