The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bob shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Shamrock's guard.
Bob won't allow Shamrock to sweep him here.
Bob passes Shamrock's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Bob wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shamrock keeps working.
Bob thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Shamrock gets full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bob looking to sit in guard and control but Shamrock gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Shamrock wants to pass the guard but Bob is keeping the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bob utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Bob is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Shamrock tries to roll over but Bob keeps him under control.
Bob is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Bob is breathing heavily.
Bob wants to take a breather but Shamrock is having none of it.
Shamrock moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Shamrock escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bob gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shamrock is on top in guard.

Shamrock throws and elbow that misses. Bob uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Shamrock's guard. Nice move by Bob!

Bob stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shamrock swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shamrock working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bob doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bob manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Shamrock looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Shamrock has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Shamrock enables Bob to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Shamrock manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Bob wants to stand but Shamrock is controlling his posture from full guard.
Bob tries to free his leg and advance position but Shamrock is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bob closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Shamrock to the mat! Shamrock manages to get full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bob has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Bob is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Shamrock is just riding it out for now. Bob eventually gives up the hold.
Bob looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Bob drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bob jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
