The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hernandez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hughes somewhat.
Hughes fails with a takedown attempt.
Hernandez lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
It looks like Matt Hughes has been cut.
Hughes tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hernandez paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hughes tries for a takedown but Hernandez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Toni Hernandez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Hughes.
Hughes shoots in for a takedown but Hernandez shows good takedown defense.
Hughes takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Hughes shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hernandez as he avoids it easily.
Hughes looks gassed!
Hernandez ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hernandez throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Hughes tumbling to the canvas!
Hughes is rocked!
Hernandez loads up on a big left hand. Hughes felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Hernandez looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Hughes can't hide his disappointment, as Hernandez celebrates the victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Toni Hernandez!
