Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Melvin Hoefman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Rappenecker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rappenecker has chosen Burial - Untrue as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Melvin Hoefman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tom Rappenecker!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Mauricio Rocha and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rappenecker clinches up with Hoefman and pushes him back against the cage.

Rappenecker breaks the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Rappenecker. No joy for Hoefman on that attempt.
Hoefman misses with a takedown attempt - Rappenecker sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Hoefman looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Rappenecker!
Rappenecker is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Hoefman has hold of Rappenecker's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rappenecker manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Rappenecker tries to reverse the position but Hoefman maintains control.

Hoefman is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Rappenecker has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Rappenecker!

Hoefman kicks Rappenecker off and gets to his feet.
Hoefman shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Melvin Hoefman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice takedown defense from Rappenecker. No joy for Hoefman on that attempt.
Hoefman wants to clinch but Rappenecker slips to the side

and Rappenecker counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rappenecker.
Hoefman tries to pull guard but Rappenecker won't allow it.
Hoefman tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rappenecker just stands there and leans against the cage.

Rappenecker breaks the clinch.
Hoefman fails with the takedown

and Rappenecker counters by moving into the clinch.
Hoefman is breathing heavily.

Rappenecker wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hoefman has him pressed against the cage.
Hoefman stalling in the clinch but Rappenecker improves position.

Rappenecker breaks from the clinch.

Rappenecker changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hoefman looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Rappenecker happy to just control the position for now.
Rappenecker is looking to take a break and control but Hoefman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Hoefman's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Rappenecker tries for a kimura but Hoefman is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hoefman is trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hoefman manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Hoefman is looking for a kimura but Rappenecker is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hoefman to get the leverage.
Hoefman passes to side control.

Hoefman working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Hoefman tries to move into full mount but can't pass Rappenecker's legs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rappenecker is looking for a sweep.

Hoefman tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Hoefman lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Rappenecker down.

Hoefman in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Rappenecker is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Melvin Hoefman!
