Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Maxell Gilbert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Ritchey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gilbert is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Jake Ritchey has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Maxell Gilbert! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Ritchey! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gilbert shoots in for a double leg but Ritchey sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Ritchey looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Gilbert closes the distance and clinches up with Ritchey, looking for a takedown. Gilbert pushes Ritchey against the cage but Ritchey circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Ritchey drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ritchey landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Gilbert is trying to improve his position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ritchey tries to move into full mount but can't pass Gilbert's legs. Ritchey trying to control the position but Gilbert is working away. Gilbert gets back to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ritchey wants to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round. Gilbert actively working from the bottom here. Ritchey seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Ritchey trying to mount his opponent but Gilbert defends it. Ritchey slows the pace down in half guard. It looks like Ritchey is going to stand back up.
Gilbert wants to get back to his feet. Ritchey wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gilbert keeps working. Ritchey wants to get back to his feet.
Ritchey is tying to control. Gilbert wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Ritchey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gilbert. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Gilbert is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Ritchey gets a takedown into half guard. Ritchey is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ritchey connects with a nice short shot to Gilbert's temple. Gilbert tries to get to full guard but Ritchey has control of the leg. Ritchey with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Ritchey missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Ritchey is thwarting Gilbert's attempts to control the position. Ritchey slips a nice elbow through Gilbert's hands, connecting with Gilbert's forehead. Ritchey controlling the action here. Gilbert is defending against the submission attempts here by Ritchey.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ritchey slows the pace down in half guard. Ritchey wants to take a breather but Gilbert is having none of it. Gilbert gets back to full guard.
Ritchey trying to control the position from guard on top but Gilbert is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gilbert has his foot on Ritchey's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ritchey works his way back into a safe position though. Ritchey with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Ritchey chips away with some ground and pound.
Gilbert is rocked! Gilbert trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Oh Gilbert is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Ritchey works over Gilbert with some ground and pound from guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ritchey stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gilbert swivels though and keeps the full guard. Gilbert is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Gilbert seems to have got his legs back now. Ritchey wants to stand but Gilbert is controlling his posture from full guard. Ritchey working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Ritchey looking to sit in guard and control but Gilbert gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Gilbert stops Ritchey from standing up. Ritchey is working an open guard so Gilbert takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Ritchey moves into range and clinches up with Gilbert. Gilbert fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maxell Gilbert. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gilbert ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Gilbert no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jake Ritchey dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Gilbert shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Ritchey counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Gilbert slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Gilbert throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Ritchey landing some decent shots from guard. Ritchey controls from within his opponent's guard. Ritchey trying to stand up but can't free himself from Gilbert's guard. Gilbert looking for a triangle here. Ritchey is fighting it but it looks tight! Gilbert pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Ritchey is tapping out - this one is all over!
