Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Allistair Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stevens has chosen Enter Sandman as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Stevens misses with a double jab
and Gracie counters with a left and a right that stings Stevens. Stevens misses with a double jab
and Gracie counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Stevens throws a nice inside leg kick. Gracie lands a nice hook to Stevens's body. Stevens takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Stevens misses with a combination
and Gracie counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Gracie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stevens can do anything to dispel that myth. Stevens wants to stand back up but Gracie manages to pass into side control.
Gracie is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Stevens's shoulder. That is not cool.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Gracie grinds an elbow into Stevens's temple. Stevens is being controlled here. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Gracie's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Stevens is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Gracie takes a little break here. Stevens wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Allistair Gracie just wasn't active enough. Gracie lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Gracie throws a right hand that Stevens ducks under and follows up with a left that Stevens also avoids with ease. Stevens throws a combination that misses and Gracie counters with a body kick. Gracie shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Stevens manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie's corner is telling him to maintain position. Gracie stops Stevens from standing up. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Gracie's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Gracie seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Allistair Gracie just wasn't active enough. Gracie with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Gracie throws a nice looking combination but Stevens bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. A nice combination there by Stevens.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stevens throws a combination that misses and Gracie connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Gracie scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Gracie is looking to clinch but Stevens is avoiding it.
Stevens throws a leg kick that is checked and Gracie counters by moving into the clinch. Stevens tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Gracie smiles and moves away.
Gracie connects with a crisp jab. A low kick from Stevens is predictable there so Gracie counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Gracie looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stevens is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gracie is controlling him. Gracie content to stall in guard here.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Stevens tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Stevens misses with a double jab
and Gracie counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Stevens throws a lazy head kick and Gracie counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Gracie is trying hard to land a takedown here. Stevens sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. A nice combination there by Gracie.
Stevens gets off balance looking for a body kick letting Gracie counter with a right hand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Allistair Gracie dominated that round. That's time! Gracie's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Stevens throws a combination that misses and Gracie cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Stevens throws a leg kick and Gracie counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Stevens scores with a one two! Gracie had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Stevens throws a head kick but Gracie moves out of range.
Gracie uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Stevens misses with a takedown and Gracie counters with a shoot takedown. Stevens fights it but they end up in guard. Stevens wants to get back to his feet but Gracie is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Gracie controlling from the top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Allistair Gracie wasn't doing enough on the ground. Stevens throws a combination that misses and Gracie counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Stevens is trying to break the clinch but Gracie has him pressed against the cage. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Gracie just misses with a elbow thrown towards Stevens's brow. Stevens wants to break the clinch but can't.
Stevens wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gracie has him pressed against the cage. Stevens is looking to break free of the clinch but Gracie has double underhooks. Stevens goes for a takedown attempt but Gracie pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Gracie throws a right and a left that Stevens avoids nicely. Gracie lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Gracie. Stevens looks to land a combination. Gracie sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Gracie lands with a right hand. Stevens throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Gracie counters with a two punch combo. Stevens is breathing heavily. Gracie connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stevens misses with a double jab
and Gracie decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Stevens's guard. Gracie looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Stevens wants to stand and escape but Gracie is having none of it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Allistair Gracie. No joy there for Gracie, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie closes this distance looking for a takedown but Stevens circles away. Stevens misses with a combination
and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into side control. Stevens won't be happy with that. Stevens is letting Gracie control him for a moment. Gracie prevents Stevens from escaping the position. Gracie is working to tighten is grip on Stevens's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Stevens has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Gracie is really squeezing tight and eventually Stevens passes out! Gracie breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
