Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Quinton Rampaasi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Antonio Aguilar! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Rampaasi looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Rampaasi wants to clinch. Rampaasi misses with an uppercut. Aguilar saw that one coming. Rampaasi darts in and clinches Aguilar up against the cage. Aguilar wants the takedown. Rampaasi is fighting it off but Aguilar persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Rampaasi's guard against the cage. Aguilar wants to control from the top but Rampaasi keeps moving. Rampaasi pushes Aguilar off and gets back to his feet.
Rampaasi closes the distance and clinches. Rampaasi scores with a shoulder strike. Aguilar drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rampaasi gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Aguilar has Rampaasi pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Aguilar pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Rampaasi tumbling to the mat - Aguilar dives into Rampaasi's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rampaasi wants to stand and escape but Aguilar is having none of it. Aguilar trying to control the position from guard on top but Rampaasi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rampaasi pushes Aguilar off and scrambles back to his feet.
Aguilar closes the distance but Rampaasi moves to the side and Rampaasi holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Aguilar looking to slow down the pace here. Rampaasi tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Aguilar is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Rampaasi stalls.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A nice left hand lands by Rampaasi.
Aguilar is trying to maintain a safe position but Rampaasi gets an underhook and turns Aguilar into the cage. Rampaasi pushes Aguilar back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Rampaasi stalling against the cage.
Aguilar is looking to control Rampaasi's arms but Rampaasi gets an underhook and turns him. Now Aguilar has his back to the cage. Aguilar's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Rampaasi is struggling to control the position. Aguilar jumps guard but Rampaasi stands there with Aguilar around his waist. Aguilar gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Quinton Rampaasi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antonio Aguilar. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Rampaasi takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. A head punch blocked on the inside by Aguilar. Rampaasi lands with a left to the head. Rampaasi has a couple of punches blocked by Aguilar.
Rampaasi prevents the takedown attempt.
Aguilar can't get the takedown.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Rampaasi as Aguilar tries to tie him up. Still in the clinch, Rampaasi scores with a nice short uppercut. Aguilar wants a takedown.
Aguilar looks gassed! Both fighters working to control the clinch. Aguilar is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Rampaasi slowing the pace effectively.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rampaasi scores with an uppercut up the middle. A nice right hand lands inside from Rampaasi. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Rampaasi. Rampaasi makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Aguilar is rocked! Rampaasi swings wildly with an uppercut but Aguilar uses good head movement to avoid it. Rampaasi lands a right hand. Aguilar is still on wobbly legs! Can Rampaasi finish him? Rampaasi throws a head punch that misses. Aguilar using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Rampaasi has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Aguilar seems to have recovered his senses. A quick uppercut on the inside from Rampaasi. Rampaasi creates some distance for himselfand unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Aguilar's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Aguilar drops to his knees and Rampaasi pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Quinton Rampaasi!
