Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Fernando Sucre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauri Ruoska (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sucre kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Capital Punishment. Ruoska has chosen Rolling Stones - Sympathy for the devil as his entrance music. Mauri Ruoska has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Fernando Sucre's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fernando Sucre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mauri Ruoska!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sucre gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ruoska to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Ruoska trying to stand up but can't free himself from Sucre's guard.
Sucre lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ruoska!
Ruoska wants to control but Sucre is having none of it.

Sucre is working for a guillotine from mount but Ruoska frees his head quite easily.

Sucre tries to control but Ruoska wriggling away.
Ruoska looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ruoska is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sucre is trying to control but Ruoska is trying to escape here - he's now mounted.
Sucre wants to control the pace but Ruoska is squirming around nicely.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sucre is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Ruoska can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Ruoska tries to lock up and control but Sucre gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Sucre swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Ruoska is now in Sucre's guard. A big mistake from Sucre there, giving up the dominant position!

Sucre has hold of Ruoska's hands but Ruoska slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Ruoska lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Sucre is trying to maintain the position but Ruoska is very close to passing his half guard.
Sucre is trying to get back to full guard.

Ruoska is working for a submission of some sort.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Ruoska decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sucre's guard.

and Ruoska counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Ruoska.

Sucre tries to pull guard but Ruoska holds him up against the cage and eventually Sucre drops back down to his feet.

Ruoska is pushing down on Sucre's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sucre is fighting to maintain full guard but Ruoska has managed to sneak the leg through.

Ruoska is trying to work for a kimura but Sucre is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ruoska is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Sucre desperately trying to maintain half guard.

Ruoska wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sucre keeps working.

Ruoska is landing with some decent strikes but Sucre is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Sucre tries to lock up and control but Ruoska gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Sucre is squirming around, avoiding Ruoska's attempts to control the action.
Sucre slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Sucre tries to roll over but Ruoska keeps him under control.

Ruoska decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ruoska throws a series of punches but Sucre moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mauri Ruoska showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Sucre is looking for a triangle here but Ruoska uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Ruoska has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Ruoska instigates a clinch.
Sucre jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ruoska walks away with a smile on his face. Sucre gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Ruoska closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sucre to the mat! Sucre manages to get full guard.

Sucre wants to control but Ruoska is keeping busy.

Sucre is persistently looking for the submission but Ruoska is defending it well.

Mauri Ruoska is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Sucre doesn't have the hooks in and Ruoska manages to turn into his guard.
Ruoska is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Sucre looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ruoska is one step ahead there.
Ruoska wants to stand but Sucre has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Ruoska won't allow Sucre to sweep him here.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Mauri Ruoska wasn't active enough on the ground.
Sucre misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Mauri Ruoska comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ruoska has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
