PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Bravo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke Bader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bader has chosen Still Kill as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eddie Bravo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luke Bader!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bravo stuffs the takedown.

Bader throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bravo was covering up waiting for the punch and Bader finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Bader is fighting to break Bravo's control of his arms but Bravo is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Bader controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
I looks like Bader might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bravo is on top in guard.

Bravo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bader is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Bravo, into his guard.
Bader must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Bader stays in close to Bravo's body and controls the position.

Bravo has control of Bader's left arm, preventing Bader from doing any damage.
Bader wants to control from the top but Bravo keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bravo pulls Bader in close to his closed guard and prevents Bader from doing any damage or advancing position.
Bravo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bader is one step ahead there.
Bader trying to control but Bravo is working from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bader wants to control from the top but Bravo keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bravo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Bravo is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Bravo throws and elbow that misses. Bader uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bravo's guard. Nice move by Bader!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bravo keeping moving, preventing Bader from controlling successfully.
Bader is stalling in the full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Bravo is adopting a defensive guard.
Bader is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Bader wants to control from the top but Bravo keeps moving.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Luke Bader will probably get the nod.
That's time! Bravo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Bader shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Bader wants to control but Bravo is keeping him busy.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Luke Bader.
Bravo shoots in for a takedown but Bader shows good takedown defense.

Bader gets a clinch.
Bader lands with a left to the head.

Bravo has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Bader clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Bravo is controlling the position but Bader somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.

Bravo is looking to take a break and control but Bader is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Bravo is looking for a kimura but Bader is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bravo to get the leverage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bader is doing well to control the position and prevent Bravo from advancing to side control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bravo seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bader does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Bravo stops Bader from getting back to his feet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Bader shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Bravo wants to control but Bader is keeping busy.
Bader stalling.
Bravo is staying active underneath Bader, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Bravo is trying is best to control the position here.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bader in particular looking to stall.
Bader is trying to control. Bravo wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Bravo is trying to stand back up but Bader is controlling him

Bader manages to break the clinch.
Bader misses with a takedown

and Bravo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bader's guard.
Bravo wants to control from the top but Bader keeps moving.

Bader pushes Bravo off and scrambles back to his feet.
Bader changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bravo tries to avoid it but Bader manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bravo to the ground. Bravo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Bravo darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Bader is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Eddie Bravo will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Bader shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Bader takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Bader's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The fighters are battling for position here. Bravo manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Bravo seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Bader seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bravo looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Bravo is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Bader tries to free his leg and advance position but Bravo is retaining full guard.
Bravo controls Bader momentarily but Bader frees himself.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Bravo shoots in and bounces Bader off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Bravo trying to control the position from guard on top but Bader is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Bravo looking to pass the guard.
Bader wants to stand up but Bravo is controlling him.
Bravo postures up in Bader's guard and throws a big left but Bader blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bravo trying to control but Bader is working from the bottom.
Bravo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bader swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Bader throws a right hand that Bravo ducks under and follows up with a left that Bravo also avoids with ease.

Bader closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bravo did well to prevent Bader getting side control.
Bader trying to control from half guard but Bravo is working away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bravo is controlling Bader's trapped leg to prevent Bader from advancing to side control.
Bravo manages to get to full guard.
Bravo manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Bravo swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Bader is now in Bravo's guard. A big mistake from Bravo there, giving up the dominant position!
Bravo is trying to control the position from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
Luke Bader comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Bader has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
