Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Winchester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maxx Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Winchester comes to the cage accompanied by God's Gonna Cut You Down. Pain is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Days of Revenge by Ramallah. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Winchester!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Maxx Pain!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pain closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Winchester to the mat! Winchester manages to get full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Pain advances to half guard.
Pain wants to lay and pray for a moment but Winchester keeps working.
Pain is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Winchester is staying active underneath Pain, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Pain is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Winchester defends it well.

Winchester flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Winchester moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pain is trying to control the action in half guard but Winchester is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pain throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Winchester is looking to improve his position.

Pain is pressing down on Winchester's thigh, looking to free his foot. Winchester is holding on for now.
Winchester wants to control but Pain is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Pain tries to pass the half guard into mount. Winchester knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Pain trying to control from half guard but Winchester is working away.

Maxx Pain has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Pain looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Winchester is fending him off so far but Pain persists. Nope, Winchester circles away and we're back to standing.
Pain fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Winchester avoids it really well and circles away.
Pain fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Sam Winchester has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maxx Pain.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pain misses with a takedown attempt - Winchester sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maxx Pain dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Pain is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Winchester not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Pain trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Winchester manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Pain wants to control but Winchester passes easily into half guard.
Pain has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Winchester is working away from the top position though.

Pain is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Pain keeping moving, preventing Winchester from controlling successfully.
Pain working a defensive guard but Winchester manages to pass into side control anyway.
You can see the frustration on Pain's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Winchester wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pain keeps working.

Maxx Pain showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Winchester with a poor takedown

and Pain counters with a shoot takedown. Winchester fights it but they end up in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pain accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Winchester keeping moving, preventing Pain from controlling successfully.
Pain throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Pain wants to control from the top but Winchester keeps moving.
Pain wants to pass the guard but Winchester is keeping the position.

Winchester wants to sweep but no luck.
Pain wants to control from the top but Winchester keeps moving.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Winchester is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Pain looking to sit in guard and control but Winchester gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Pain lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Winchester!

Pain takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Pain prevents Winchester from getting the reversal.

Winchester is desperately trying to improve his position but Pain has a good base and remains in mount.
Maxx Pain is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Pain sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Winchester is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Pain content just to control the position here.
