Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bruce Wallakowski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Johnson! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson has a takedown stuffed. Johnson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Johnson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Wallakowski defends it nicely. Wallakowski closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Johnson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Wallakowski wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Wallakowski decides to take the fight back to the feet. Johnson misses with a straight right. Wallakowski goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Johnson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Wallakowski. Wallakowski lands a jab to the head.
Johnson looks to land a right hand but Wallakowski moved out of range. Johnson keeps the fight on the outside. Wallakowski gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Johnson postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson wants to stand but Wallakowski has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Wallakowski is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Wallakowski utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Johnson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Wallakowski is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Wallakowski has escaped and now he's on top! Wallakowski is looking to stand up but Johnson won't let him. Wallakowski will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Johnson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Wallakowski is aware though and is defending well. Johnson looks gassed! Wallakowski wants to stand but Johnson is controlling his posture from full guard. Wallakowski gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Wallakowski throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Johnson. Wallakowski tries to close the distance and clinch up but Johnson swats him away and circles back towards the center. A nice combination there by Wallakowski.

Wallakowski gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Wallakowski decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Wallakowski stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Wallakowski buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Wallakowski tries to land a sweep but no joy. Johnson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Wallakowski is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Wallakowski has escaped and now he's on top!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Wallakowski stands up and waves to Johnson to follow him. Wallakowski tries to clinch but Johnson is having none of it. Nice takedown defense from Wallakowski. No joy for Johnson on that attempt. Wallakowski tries to clinch up. Johnson walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wallakowski clinches. Wallakowski goes for a takedown attempt but Johnson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Wallakowski is working on a single leg takedown against the ropes. Johnson can't fight it off and eventually Wallakowski manages to take the fight to the floor. Johnson looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Wallakowski stands up and waves to Johnson to follow him. Bruce Wallakowski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wallakowski closes the distance and pushes Johnson back into the ropes. Johnson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Wallakowski pulls his leg out and moves away.
Johnson has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Johnson takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Wallakowski moves into the clinch successfully.

Johnson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Wallakowski manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Johnson has Wallakowski in his guard. Wallakowski gets to his feet. Johnson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Wallakowski scores with a takedown into Johnson's guard. Wallakowski gets to his feet - Johnson follows without any prompting. Wallakowski moves in looking to clinch but Johnson pushes him off. Johnson is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Wallakowski. Bruce Wallakowski is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A slapping leg kick lands for Wallakowski.
