The judges for this bout are James Glass, Steven Brown and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Kovacic looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Kovacic shoots for a double leg takedown but Souza sprawls well. He's pushed Kovacic's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Souza gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Souza has clasped his hands together around Kovacic's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Souza takes a little break here. Kovacic wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

and Souza counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Kovacic scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kovacic is looking for a sweep.
Souza is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Kovacic's shoulder. That is not cool.
Souza has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Kovacic wants to control but Souza postures up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kovacic wants to get back to his feet but Souza is dominant here and he's now got Kovacic's back!

Souza is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Kovacic has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Will Souza go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Souza, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
