PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ryuu Matsumoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akihiro Ohno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ohno is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Bounce with Me. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryuu Matsumoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akihiro Ohno!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Sosuke Kotani and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matsumoto shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ohno as he avoids it easily.

Matsumoto darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Still in half guard, Matsumoto seems content to control.
Ohno is looking to escape.
Matsumoto looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Matsumoto seems to be working for a kimura but Ohno defends the submission attempt.
Matsumoto seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ohno does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ohno has his takedown stuffed

and Matsumoto decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ohno's guard.

Matsumoto passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Matsumoto tries to advance to mount but can't.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ohno is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Matsumoto has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Matsumoto takes a little break here. Ohno wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Matsumoto seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ohno for as long as he can get away with.
Matsumoto is breathing heavily.
Matsumoto is looking to take a break and control but Ohno is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ohno tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ohno is pushing Matsumoto's head away, looking to escape. Matsumoto manages to hold on to the position though.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
A lull in the action here.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Ryuu Matsumoto just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Ohno lands with a thumping leg kick.

Matsumoto scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Matsumoto passes to side control.
Ohno wants to control but Matsumoto postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ohno is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Matsumoto advances nicely into full mount.
Ohno really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Matsumoto controlling from the full mount.
Ohno tries to lock up and control but Matsumoto gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Matsumoto fails to advance to Ohno's back.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Matsumoto trying to control but Ohno is having none of it.
Ohno is controlling an arm, preventing Matsumoto from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Ohno has given up his back here. Will Matsumoto look for the submission or keep pounding away?
ropes is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Ohno.
Matsumoto has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's six minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ohno wants to get back to his feet.
Matsumoto slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Matsumoto is cranking Ohno's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Ohno! He's tightened the choke and Ohno is tapping out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 6:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ryuu Matsumoto!
