Anderson has chosen 50 Cent - Bang ya Head Harder Ft Lloyd Banks, Dr. Dre and Candice Pillay as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn takes a swing at Anderson's ribcage but misses.
Anderson shoots for a takedown but Penn saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A big right from Penn misses.
Penn misses with a looping right.
Penn throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Penn dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Anderson looks gassed!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Anderson takes one to the chin there.


It looks like Billy Anderson has been cut.

Penn shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Penn's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Penn goes for an armbar but Anderson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Anderson.

Anderson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Penn looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Penn looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Penn!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Anderson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Penn connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Anderson momentarily.

Penn drops his shoulder and cracks Anderson with a huge uppercut! Anderson goes down! Can Penn finish him?


Anderson is rocked!

Penn drops back looking for a leg! Anderson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Anderson manages to kick Penn off! Penn jumps back into Anderson's guard.

Penn seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Penn seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Anderson for as long as he can get away with.

Anderson has his foot on Penn's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Penn works his way back into a safe position though.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Penn is taking a breather. Anderson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Penn is working for a kimura but Anderson is defending it quite comfortably.
Anderson flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Penn drops an elbow to the side of Anderson's head.
Penn is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Anderson can do to turn this around?

Penn jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Anderson manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Penn tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Penn has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Anderson manages to get back to half guard.
Anderson won't allow Penn to pass to mount.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Penn is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Penn looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Anderson tries to clinch up.

BJ Penn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Penn drops Anderson with a big left hand and mounts him. Anderson is in big trouble!

Penn wants to control the pace but Anderson is squirming around nicely.
Anderson seems to have recovered his senses.

Well Penn has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
