Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Greody Piepper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Rios (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rios comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Forever kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Greody Piepper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Diego Rios! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rios displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
It looks like Greody Piepper has been cut. Rios lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Rios is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Rios looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Piepper shoots in for a takedown but Rios shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Rios gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Piepper to score an easy takedown into full guard. Piepper trying to control but Rios is working from the bottom. Piepper pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rios is keeping the position for now. Piepper is working hard here to advance position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rios is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Piepper tries to free his leg and advance position but Rios is retaining full guard. Rios is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Piepper tries to pull guard but Rios holds him up against the cage and eventually Piepper drops back down to his feet.
Rios is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Rios prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Greody Piepper. That's going to take a lot out of him. Piepper manages to break the clinch.
Piepper fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Rios fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Piepper misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Piepper dives in and grabs Rios's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rios pushes down on Piepper's head and hops out. Piepper takes a kick to the side of the head. Rios wants to clinch up but Piepper keeps it at a distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rios misses with a few strikes there.
Piepper scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Piepper is breathing heavily. Piepper passes to full mount! Rios is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Piepper looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Piepper swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Rios is now in Piepper's guard. A big mistake from Piepper there, giving up the dominant position! Rios stands up from Piepper's guard - Rios perhaps looking for a knockout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Piepper shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rios's guard. Piepper trying to move into half guard but instead Rios has managed to sweep! Rios trying to control the position from guard on top but Piepper is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rios wants to stand but Piepper is controlling his posture from full guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Piepper is on top in guard.
Piepper looking to sit in guard and control but Rios gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Piepper looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Piepper might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Rios trying to control but Piepper is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rios loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rios scoring with punches to the head and body. Rios throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Piepper works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Rios got a little sloppy there for a moment and Piepper has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rios has managed to get both his arms back between Piepper's legs - danger averted. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Diego Rios will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Greody Piepper's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Horrible takedown by Piepper or perhaps it was just good defense by Rios which made him look bad. Rios cracks Piepper with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Piepper is defended easily by Rios. Piepper misses with a takedown and Rios counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Greody Piepper. That's going to take a lot out of him. Piepper gets a takedown into half guard. Rios kicks off Piepper and gets to his feet. Decent striking displayed by Rios there. Piepper shoots in and bounces Rios off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Piepper controlling from the top position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Piepper won't allow Rios to sweep him here. Piepper trying to control the position from guard on top but Rios is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rios pushes Piepper off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Piepper shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rios as he jumps to the side. Piepper takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A nice combination there by Rios.
Greody Piepper is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Piepper shoots in but doesn't get the takedown letting Rios counter with a right hand. Piepper tries to move into range but Rios moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Piepper shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rios as he jumps to the side. Piepper wants to clinch. Piepper fails with a takedown attempt. Nice sprawl there from Rios as Piepper shoots in. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Rios!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Piepper is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Rios. Rios misses with a double jab.
Piepper shoots for a double leg takedown but Rios sprawls well. He's pushed Piepper's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Rios fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A head kick misses from Rios. Rios is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Piepper shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rios's guard. Piepper drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rios dives on top into guard. Rios stopping the sweep attempt from Piepper. Rios working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Piepper is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Piepper throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Piepper seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rios does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Piepper is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Rios is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
