Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Fedor Mirinova and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Jiupowa looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jiupowa looks for a takedown but Varrava sprawls well.
Varrava lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Jiupowa closes this distance looking for a takedown but Varrava circles away.
Varrava throws a head kick that misses.
Varrava closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jiupowa did well to prevent Varrava getting side control.
Varrava trying to mount his opponent but Jiupowa defends it.
Varrava throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Varrava is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Jiupowa controls Varrava momentarily but Varrava frees himself.

Jiupowa wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Varrava is now in half guard.

Varrava works his way into side control.
Varrava tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Jiupowa misses with a strike from the bottom.
Jiupowa can't do much from the bottom here.
Jiupowa tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Jiupowa is not content to let Varrava control the position.
Varrava is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jiupowa is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jiupowa tries to close the distance and clinch up but Varrava swats him away and circles back towards the center.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jiupowa circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jiupowa looks for the body kick but Varrava saw that one coming.
Jiupowa keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jiupowa shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Varrava counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Amarrao Jiupowa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jiupowa wants to control but Varrava is keeping busy.
Varrava is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Varrava seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jiupowa does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

and Varrava decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jiupowa's guard.
Varrava stands up from Jiupowa's guard - Varrava perhaps looking for a knockout.
Varrava closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Varrava tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jiupowa just stands there and leans against the cage.
Varrava turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Varrava manages to end up in side control.
Jiupowa manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Jiupowa trying to hold on to Varrava's head to control him but Varrava postures up.
Varrava is breathing heavily.

Jiupowa looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Jiupowa tries to roll over but Varrava keeps him under control.
Jiupowa blocking the ground and pound attempt from Varrava.
Jiupowa wants to improve his position but Varrava is controlling well.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Varrava shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jiupowa but Jiupowa pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Amarrao Jiupowa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrey Varrava.

and Varrava counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jiupowa's guard now.

Jiupowa is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Varrava trying to hold on to Jiupowa's head to control him but Jiupowa postures up.
Jiupowa is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Varrava to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
Jiupowa trying to control the position from guard on top but Varrava is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jiupowa advances to half guard.
Jiupowa wants to control but Varrava is keeping him busy.
Jiupowa is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Varrava is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Varrava is looking to control Jiupowa's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Varrava avoid being mounted?
Jiupowa works his foot free and advances to mount.
Jiupowa is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Varrava working to try and regain half guard.

Andrey Varrava has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jiupowa takes Varrava's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Varrava is in trouble.
Jiupowa struggling to keep hold of the position.
Varrava is trying to defend against the choke here but Jiupowa has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Jiupowa Tightens the hold and Varrava taps out furiously! Jiupowa displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
