Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Dempsey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Mckenna! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dempsey lands a jab-cross combination. Dempsey throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Dempsey displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mckenna. Mckenna shoots in looking for a takedown. Dempsey tries to sprawl out of it but Mckenna keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dempsey manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Mckenna drives through with a takedown into guard. Mckenna trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Mckenna drops back, looking for a kneebar! Dempsey looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Dempsey looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Dempsey! Mckenna manages to get back to half guard. Dempsey is taking a breather. Mckenna says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mckenna is looking to improve his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Jack Dempsey wasn't doing enough on the ground. Dempsey fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Mckenna closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dempsey circles away. Jack Dempsey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Mckenna. Mckenna takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Dempsey scores with a jab to the jaw. Mckenna on the wrong end of a nice hook. Mckenna looks gassed! Mckenna looks for a takedown but Dempsey sprawls well. Dempsey feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Mckenna sprawling to the canvas! Mckenna rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Dempsey finish him?!
Mckenna is rocked! Dempsey lands a slapping body shot.
Jack Dempsey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mckenna drops his hands momentarily. Dempsey doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Mckenna staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Mckenna doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jack Dempsey!
