Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sam Maniche (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hattori Chiba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hattori Chiba!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and Donatello Bradman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the liver by Maniche. Beautiful body shot.
Maniche throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Chiba dodges the punch combination from Maniche.
Maniche cracks Chiba with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Maniche keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Maniche shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Maniche showed some decent athleticism there.
Chiba is staying active underneath Maniche, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Maniche wants to advance to full mount but Chiba doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Chiba pulls Maniche in close to prevent any damage.
Chiba can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Maniche controls the pace.
Maniche trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Chiba manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Chiba gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Maniche looks to land a combination but Chiba avoids it well.
Chiba slips a jab and a cross from Maniche.
Maniche takes a swing at Chiba's ribcage but misses.
Maniche scores with a nice right hand.
Maniche tries to bum rush Chiba with a series of wild strikes but Chiba uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Maniche throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Chiba sees it coming and avoids it easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Maniche enables Chiba to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Maniche manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Chiba tries to free his leg and advance position but Maniche is retaining full guard.
Chiba wants to stand but Maniche is controlling his posture from full guard.

Chiba decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Maniche, up you get!

Chiba closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maniche is trying to stand.
Maniche is breathing heavily.

Maniche manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Maniche throws a series of punches but Chiba moves out of range.

Nice takedown defense from Maniche. No joy for Chiba on that attempt.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Maniche looks to land a left hand but Chiba moved out of range nicely.
Maniche throws a series of punches but Chiba avoids them all with ease.

Sam Maniche seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chiba shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Maniche manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hattori Chiba dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Maniche falls off balance throwing a combination

and Chiba counters with a nice double leg into side control. Maniche won't be happy with that.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Chiba passes Maniche's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Chiba stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Maniche lands with a nice combination. Chiba backs away looking to recover.

and Chiba counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Chiba prevents Maniche from standing back up.
Chiba uses his free foot to push down on Maniche's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Maniche.

Chiba is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Maniche to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Maniche shrugs it off.

You get the feeling that Maniche really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Maniche has given up his back here. Will Chiba look for the submission or keep pounding away?

Chiba has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Chiba is cranking Maniche's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Maniche! He's tightened the choke and Maniche is tapping out!
