PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nate Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sisco Ferrichio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Diaz might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Why Can't We Be Friends?. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nate Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sisco Ferrichio!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Kavanagh and Franklyn Lucas.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferrichio tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Diaz paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Diaz scores with a body shot.

Ferrichio takes the fight into the clinch.

Ferrichio jumps guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Ferrichio tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ferrichio is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Diaz stops Ferrichio from standing up.
Diaz postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Diaz not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Diaz has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Ferrichio looking to hit a scissor sweep but Diaz is one step ahead there.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Ferrichio is looking for a triangle but Diaz pushes his legs off easily.
Diaz won't allow Ferrichio to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Ferrichio moves into range and clinches up with Diaz.
Ferrichio fails to pull guard.
Ferrichio tries for a takedown but Diaz manages to get underhooks.
Ferrichio is trying to drag Diaz to the mat but Diaz just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Nate Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sisco Ferrichio.
Ferrichio looks gassed!
Ferrichio fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Diaz has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Diaz lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ferrichio jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Diaz walks away with a smile on his face. Ferrichio gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Diaz cracks Ferrichio with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Ferrichio looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Diaz finish him?

Ferrichio is rocked!
Nate Diaz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Diaz works Ferrichio's body with a nice hook.
Ferrichio is still on wobbly legs! Can Diaz finish him?
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Diaz digs a good body shot into Ferrichio's ribs.
Ferrichio seems to have recovered his senses.
Diaz with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Diaz throws a jab when Ferrichio was well out of range.
Diaz thows a body shot but no joy.
Ferrichio avoids the body shot from Diaz.

Diaz lands a big uppercut and Ferrichio crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Ferrichio looks OK. Diaz waves Ferrichio back to his feet!
Diaz cracks Ferrichio with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Ferrichio tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Diaz pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Ferrichio is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nate Diaz!
