Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vasili Golitsyn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Shaun Perex!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Igor Prikhodko and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perex shoots in for a takedown but Golitsyn shows good takedown defense.
Golitsyn looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Perex shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Perex is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Perex is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Golitsyn doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Perex.

Perex is working for a submission of some sort.
Golitsyn flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Perex is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Golitsyn moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Perex is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Perex stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Golitsyn swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Golitsyn is trying to control the position but Perex postures up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Golitsyn is trying to control the position from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Perex pulls Golitsyn into guard.

Perex is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Golitsyn pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Perex is keeping the position for now.

Perex had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Golitsyn is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Perex Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Golitsyn's back instead.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Perex is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Golitsyn knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Golitsyn for a finish.

Perex is persistently looking for the submission but Golitsyn is defending it well.

Golitsyn is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Perex gets his way!

Perex is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Golitsyn knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Golitsyn for a finish.

Perex is looking for the choke from the back position but Golitsyn is controlling his hands well.
Golitsyn manages to reverse the position and now he's in Perex's guard. Nice work there by Golitsyn.

Perex working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Golitsyn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Golitsyn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Perex lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Golitsyn!

Perex is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Golitsyn has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Perex stands up from mount. Strange move.
Golitsyn doesn't manage to clinch there - Perex circles away.
Perex fails with a takedown attempt.
Perex misses with a takedown attempt - Golitsyn sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Vasili Golitsyn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shaun Perex.

Golitsyn shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Golitsyn was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Perex really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Perex is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Perex sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Perex is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Golitsyn's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Golitsyn's back!
Golitsyn tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shaun Perex dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Excellent takedown into side control there by Perex.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Perex has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Golitsyn is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Perex yanks on the arm and Golitsyn is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Perex.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Shaun Perex!
