Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tomasz Drwal! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sly Pi! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Saam Ante and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pi blocks a head kick by Drwal.
Pi fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Drwal scores with a jab. Pi acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
It looks like Sly Pi has been cut. Sly Pi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Drwal pushes Pi up against the cage in a clinch. Drwal is trying to break the clinch but Pi has him pressed against the cage. Drwal pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Drwal wants to clinch up but Pi keeps it at a distance. Pi lands a head shot. Drwal clobbers Pi with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Pi fails with a takedown attempt. Drwal stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Drwal wants it to stay on the feet. Tomasz Drwal has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sly Pi. Drwal cracks Pi with a right hand to the side of the head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Pi tries for a takedown but Drwal sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Pi looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Drwal is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pi is controlling him. Pi is pushing down on Drwal's leg trying to pass to half guard. Drwal is fighting to maintain full guard but Pi has managed to sneak the leg through. Pi is looking for a kimura but Drwal is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pi to get the leverage. Drwal wants to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pi looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Pi is pressing down on Drwal's thigh, looking to free his foot. Drwal is holding on for now. Pi stops Drwal from getting back to his feet.
Drwal is not content to let Pi control the position. Pi is trying to work for a kimura but Drwal is defending well.
Pi wants to take a breather but Drwal is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pi seems to be looking for submissions.
Pi in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Drwal tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Pi!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Sly Pi!
