PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Keon Cash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucky Strike (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cash comes to the cage accompanied by Unsung. The crowd seem to be enjoying Strike 's choice of entrance music: Motorhead - Overkill. Keon Cash has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Keon Cash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lucky Strike !
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cash plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Strike throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Strike keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Strike throws a big shot that misses.
Nice sprawl there from Strike as Cash shoots in.
Strike is looking to slow Cash down with leg kicks.
Cash lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Cash.
Cash shoots in and drives through. Strike sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Keon Cash. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cash dives in and grabs Strike 's left leg, looking for a takedown. Strike pushes down on Cash's head and hops out.
Strike tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Strike shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Strike is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Cash has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Cash tries to hold on but Strike pushes him away.
Strike can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cash is looking to escape.
Cash is wriggling around trying to escape.

Strike looking to control but Cash is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Strike trying to control but Cash is having none of it.
Strike throwing strikes but Cash uses the opportunity to regain half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Strike is looking to clinch.
Strike misses with a wild body shot.
Strike wants to clinch up but Cash keeps it at a distance.
Strike tries to clinch but Cash moves out of range.
Strike displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cash.

and Cash counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Cash is breathing heavily.
Strike is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Cash stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Strike swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Strike wants to get back to his feet but Cash is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Strike trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Strike pushes Cash off and gets back to his feet.
Strike fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cash avoids it really well and circles away.
Strike wants to clinch up but Cash keeps it at a distance.
Cash lands a nice leg kick that just misses Strike 's sensitive parts.
Cash swings for the body but Strike moves out of range.

and Cash counters with a big head kick but Strike shrugs it off.

Cash closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Strike did well to prevent Cash getting side control.

Strike pushes Cash off looking to stand but Cash dives back in and keeps control.

Strike is trying to control but can't.
Strike tries to roll over but Cash keeps him under control.
Cash missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cash thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Strike 's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Strike keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Cash avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Cash with a lazy takedown attempt
enabling Strike to counter with a crisp jab.
Strike shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cash as he jumps to the side.
No luck for Strike with that takedown attempt.

Strike gets the takedown into side control.
Strike misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
You can see the frustration on Cash's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Strike creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Cash sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Cash is trying to improve his position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Strike misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Cash is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Strike 's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Cash wants to improve his position but Strike is controlling well.
Strike seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cash does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Cash is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Strike is controlling the pace.
Cash has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Strike is working away from the top position though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Strike wants to control but Cash is keeping him busy.
Cash avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Strike .

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Strike shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cash's guard.
Strike wants to control from the top but Cash keeps moving.
Strike might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Cash kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Strike decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cash, up you get!
Strike throws the kick towards the body but Cash avoids it.

and Strike decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cash's guard.

Keon Cash has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lucky Strike .

Strike bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Strike is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Cash will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Cash manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Strike has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Well, if Cash is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Lucky Strike showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

so Strike counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Strike wants to control from the top but Cash keeps moving.
Cash wants to sweep but no luck.
Strike not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Cash is looking for a sweep.
Strike wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cash keeps working.

Strike decides to stand up, so the ref orders Cash to his feet.

and Strike counters with a shoot takedown. Cash fights it but they end up in guard.
Strike in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Strike gets to his feet - Cash follows without any prompting.
Strike shoots in looking for a takedown. Cash tries to sprawl out of it but Strike keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cash manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Danga de danga de dang - Strike scores with a four punch combination!

Strike looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Cash!

Cash sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
The fighters are battling for position here. Cash manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Strike trying to control but Cash is working from the bottom.

Strike is stalling in the full guard.

Strike is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Cash keeping moving, preventing Strike from controlling successfully.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Cash is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Strike gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Strike .
Cash lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Strike backwards.
Strike misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Cash.
Cash trying to stall but Strike improves his position.
Cash is pushing Strike up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Strike ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Strike no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cash wants to stand and escape but instead Strike has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Lucky Strike comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Strike has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
