Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Orlando Cardigan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Detroit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Max Detroit is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Orlando Cardigan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Max Detroit!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Detroit shoots in for a takedown but Cardigan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Cardigan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Detroit, pushing him back against the ropes.
Detroit lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
A hook to the body from Detroit.
Cardigan drops down looking for an ankle pick but Detroit pulls his leg out and moves away.
Detroit misses with a low kick.

Detroit gets a takedown into half guard.
Cardigan makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Cardigan.

Cardigan looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Detroit postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Cardigan is trying to control the position but Detroit postures up.
Detroit throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cardigan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Detroit is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cardigan is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cardigan has escaped and now he's on top!
Detroit lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cardigan!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Detroit looking to finish Cardigan with some ground and pound. This is bad for Cardigan!

Detroit moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Cardigan has worked his arm free - good work by Cardigan!
Detroit scores with punches from side control.
Detroit creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Cardigan gets back to half guard.
Detroit lands with a punch from half guard.
Cardigan is looking for a sweep. Detroit is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Detroit lands a nice short elbow.
Cardigan is looking to improve his position.
Detroit not landing any meaningful shots this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Detroit thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Detroit seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cardigan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Detroit not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Detroit thows a huge punch but Cardigan dodges it nicely.
Cardigan is looking to control Detroit's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cardigan avoid being mounted?
Cardigan is looking for a sweep. Detroit is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Detroit working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Detroit is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Cardigan is looking to improve his position.
Detroit wants to control but Cardigan is keeping him busy.
Cardigan tries to roll over but Detroit keeps him under control.

Detroit is working for a kimura but Cardigan is defending it quite comfortably.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Detroit is looking to advance position but Cardigan won't allow it.
Cardigan is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Detroit scores with a couple of nice shots.
Cardigan is looking to improve his position.
Cardigan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Detroit is working away from the top position though.
Detroit drops an elbow to the side of Cardigan's head.
Cardigan gets full guard.
Detroit is in close to Cardigan's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Cardigan is breathing heavily.
Detroit stands up over Cardigan, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Detroit makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Detroit engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Detroit thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Detroit drops back looking for a leg! Cardigan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cardigan manages to kick Detroit off! Detroit jumps back into Cardigan's guard.
Cardigan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Cardigan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Detroit gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Detroit trying to control but Cardigan is working from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Detroit is looking to work some ground and pound but Cardigan has wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Max Detroit dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Cardigan tries to clinch but Detroit moves out of range.
Detroit looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cardigan is fending him off so far but Detroit persists. Nope, Cardigan circles away and we're back to standing.
Detroit scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Cardigan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Cardigan has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Detroit finds it's way round the side to connect with Cardigan's head.


Cardigan is rocked!
Detroit connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Oh Cardigan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Detroit throws a quick head kick that knocks Cardigan silly! This fight is all over! What a finish! Detroit is up on the ropes, taking in the applause from the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Max Detroit!
