Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Leite (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fabricio Verdun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Miguel Leite! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fabricio Verdun! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Leite lands a nice looking body kick. Verdun shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Leite napping and manages to drive through into side control! Leite is not content to let Verdun control the position. Leite sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Leite is positioning himself well to prevent Verdun advancing to mount. Leite is not content to let Verdun control the position. Verdun with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Verdun wants to pass the guard but Leite is defending well. Verdun prevents Leite from standing back up.

That's one minute gone in the round. Verdun is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Verdun is looking to advance position but Leite won't allow it.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Leite tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Leite clinches up against the cage. Verdun fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Leite makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Verdun comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Leite jumps into guard, dragging Verdun to the mat.
Verdun slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Leite tries to improve position but can't. Leite is working hard here to advance position. Verdun working away. Leite is trying to get back to half guard. Verdun tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Verdun looks gassed! Verdun wants to control but Leite is keeping him busy.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Leite has Verdun up against the cage in a clinch.
Leite gets control of Verdun's arms and successfully pulls guard. Leite will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Verdun wants to control from the top but Leite keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Leite has control of Verdun's left arm, preventing Verdun from doing any damage. Leite looking for a sweep. Not yet Leite, not yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Verdun stands up from Leite's guard - Verdun perhaps looking for a knockout. Leite closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Leite lands in his opponent's guard. Leite controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Leite stands up from guard. Let's bang! Verdun gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Leite moves into the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Miguel Leite dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Leite throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Leite doesn't manage to clinch there - Verdun circles away.
Verdun throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Leite moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Leite lands a two punch combo.
Miguel Leite is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Leite closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Verdun wants to control but Leite is keeping busy and won't allow it. Leite missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Nice strikes from Leite there. Leite stalling. Verdun wants to control but Leite passes into side.
Verdun is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Verdun takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Leite controls the position from side control. Leite has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Leite clinches with his opponent.
Leite breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Leite bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Leite decides to take the fight back to the feet. Miguel Leite seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Verdun gets caught flat footed, as Leite shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Leite wants to control from the top but Verdun keeps moving. Leite not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Verdun working for a triangle but Leite defends it easily.
Leite stays in close to Verdun's body and controls the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leite seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Verdun for as long as he can get away with. Leite trying to control the position from guard on top but Verdun is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Miguel Leite. Left hook, right uppercut from Leite. Leite throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Verdun was covering up waiting for the punch and Leite finishes the takedown easily into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Leite controlling from the top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Verdun looking to control.
Verdun is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Verdun thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Leite is looking for a sweep. Verdun is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Verdun wants to take a breather but Leite is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Miguel Leite dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Leite changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Verdun looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Leite trying to control the action but Verdun is working from the bottom. Leite is really struggling to control Verdun but he's trying to hold on to the position. Verdun is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Leite off and has taken his back! Leite is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Leite tries to escape but Verdun has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leite breaks Verdun's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Leite has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Verdun has momentary wrist control but Leite slips an elbow through the middle. Leite slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Verdun keeping moving, preventing Leite from controlling successfully. Verdun trying to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Leite is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Verdun working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Leite. Leite is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Leite is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Miguel Leite. Leite clinches up with Verdun and pushes him back against the cage. Verdun is trying to break free. Leite breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Verdun gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Verdun has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Leite can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Miguel Leite overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Leite sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Leite makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Verdun working a defensive guard here.
Leite stays in close to Verdun's body and controls the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Leite stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Verdun swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Miguel Leite showed his dominance in that final round. Well Leite has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
