PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bull Crawford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Moose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bull Crawford!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marcus Moose!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moose thuds his shin into the meat of Crawford's side.
Moose swats away the attempt to clinch by Crawford.
Moose staying out of range there.
Crawford misses with a series of wild punches.
Moose falls off balance throwing a combination
and Moose takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Crawford is breathing heavily.

Moose drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Moose looking to pass the guard.
Crawford throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Moose controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Crawford is striking from the bottom but Moose uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.

Moose not doing much here.
Moose is pressing down on Crawford's thigh, looking to free his foot. Crawford is holding on for now.
Moose controlling the action here.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Moose lands a nice short elbow.

Moose decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

and Moose counters by clinching up.

Moose darts in and clinches Crawford up against the cage.

Moose tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Crawford just stands there and leans against the cage.
Bull Crawford has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcus Moose.
Moose drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Crawford is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Crawford struggles to land a body shot inside as Moose controls his hands.
Crawford has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Moose is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Moose decides to pull guard.
Crawford wants to pass the guard but Moose is keeping the position.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bull Crawford seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Crawford avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and Moose counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Crawford is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Moose prevents Crawford from standing back up.

Crawford tries to bench press Moose off him but Moose keeps the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Crawford is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Moose wants to stand up but Crawford has a hold of him and won't allow it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Crawford looks to clinch

so Moose counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Crawford is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Moose tries to get to full guard but Crawford has control of the leg.
Moose is staying active underneath Crawford, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Crawford looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
It looks like Crawford is going to stand back up.

Moose is defending against the submission attempts here by Crawford.
Crawford perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Moose showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Crawford tries for a takedown but Moose circles away easily

and Moose decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Crawford's guard.

Crawford keeping moving, preventing Moose from controlling successfully.
Moose loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Crawford wants to get back to his feet but Moose is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Moose is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Crawford controls Moose momentarily but Moose frees himself.
Moose trying to control but Crawford is working from the bottom.
Moose missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

so Moose counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Crawford is trying to keep Moose in close.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Crawford looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Moose must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Crawford manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Moose manages to get himself to full guard.

Crawford stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Moose swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Crawford wants to control from the top but Moose keeps moving.

Crawford drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Moose manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Crawford has Moose in his guard.

Marcus Moose comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Moose has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
