Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rod Duarte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rueda Mello (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rod Duarte! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rueda Mello! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Felipe Paraventi and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mello will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Duarte is looking to clinch but Mello is avoiding it.
Duarte defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mello. Mello avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mello misses with a takedown attempt - Duarte sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Rod Duarte has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rueda Mello. Duarte clinches. Mello breaks the clinch.
Mello gets caught flat footed, as Duarte shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Mello striking off his back but it's not causing Duarte any problems. Mello keeping moving, preventing Duarte from controlling successfully. Duarte looking to pass the guard. Duarte looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Duarte trying to control but Mello is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mello has a closed guard, preventing Duarte from standing up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Duarte throws a sloppy head kick and Mello moves out of range easily. Duarte throws a right hand that Mello ducks under and follows up with a left that Mello also avoids with ease. Mello fails with the takedown and Duarte decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mello's guard. Duarte tries to free his leg and advance position but Mello is retaining full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Duarte stands up and waves to Mello to follow him. Duarte defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mello. Duarte throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mello. Duarte goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Duarte clinches with his opponent.
Mello breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Horrible takedown by Duarte or perhaps it was just good defense by Mello which made him look bad. Duarte is breathing heavily. Mello takes the fight into the clinch. Duarte with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Mello manages to break the clinch.
Rueda Mello seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A shot to the liver by Mello. Beautiful body shot. Mello gets in close and instigates a clinch. Mello fails to pull guard.
Duarte tries to break free but Mello pushes him back against the cage. Mello gets control of Duarte's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mello will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mello is on top in guard.
Duarte is looking for a triangle but Mello pushes his legs off easily.
Mello distracts Duarte with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Mello scoring with punches to the head and body. Duarte bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mello's guard. Duarte stopping the sweep attempt from Mello.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mello is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Duarte wants to pass the guard but Mello is keeping the position. Mello wants to stand up but Duarte is controlling him. Mello throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Duarte escapes and throws Mello's legs to the side, diving into side control! Mello taking punishment in the form of punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rod Duarte dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Duarte gets a clinch. Mello has clasped his hands together around Duarte's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. You can see the frustration on Duarte's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Mello wants to control but Duarte is keeping him busy. Mello decides to stand back up. Mello steps back and let's Duarte get back to his feet. Duarte tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mello paws at him with a jab and circles away. Duarte closes the distance and pushes Mello back into the cage. Mello breaks the clinch.
Duarte throws a head kick that Mello semi-blocks.
Duarte with a lazy takedown attempt and Mello decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Duarte's guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mello wants to get up but he can't break Duarte's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Duarte bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mello's guard. Duarte stands up from guard. Let's bang! Duarte goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Mello moves out of range as Duarte throws a body kick.
Mello fails with the takedown and Duarte moves into the clinch. Mello manages to break the clinch.
Duarte feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Duarte has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Mello wants to sweep but no luck. Mello lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Duarte! Mello lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Duarte hang on?
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mello landing strikes from the mount. Mello thowing shots but they're missing. Duarte wants to control but Mello is having none of it. Duarte really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Duarte is working hard here to advance position. Duarte is in a horrible position here. Mello smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mello lands a nice shot to the head. Mello looking to control but Duarte is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Mello wants to control but Duarte has made it back to half guard. Nice work. Mello throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Nice strikes from Mello there. Mello is keen to just control but Duarte is a slippery customer.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Mello is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Duarte actively working from the bottom here. Duarte is positioning himself well to prevent Mello advancing to mount. Mello is working for a submission of some sort.
Mello decides to stand and escape the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rueda Mello showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Duarte throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Mello fails with the takedown and Duarte counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Duarte scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Mello wants to control but Duarte postures up. Mello looks to move to half guard but instead Duarte has passed into mount! Damn! Mello is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Mello is looking to improve his position but Duarte isn't that keen on the idea. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mello is in a horrible position here. Duarte smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Mello wants to control but Duarte is having none of it. Mello is bucking up trying to escape but Duarte cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Mello can't escape the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Duarte wants to control the pace but Mello is squirming around nicely. Duarte is really struggling to control Mello but he's trying to hold on to the position. Mello is trying to escape the mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Mello tries to improve his position but instead Duarte has taken his back! Mello can't escape the position.

Duarte tries to get the hooks in deep but Mello pushed the leg off. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mello tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
And that's the end of the fight! Rod Duarte showed his dominance in that final round. Well Duarte has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
