Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Candido (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lucas Candido!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Scott Kent!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Igor Prikhodko and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The crowd cheers as Candido lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kent doesn't seem phased though.

Kent has taken the fight to the clinch.
Candido can't get the takedown.

Kent tightens his grip and picks Candido up, before dumping him to the ground. Candido manages to land in guard.

Candido has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Kent is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Candido.

Kent looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Candido tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kent content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Kent is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Candido is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Kent really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Candido. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Candido is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kent grinds an elbow into Candido's temple.
Candido is trying to get back to half guard.
A lull in the action here as Kent stalls from top position.
Candido sneaks back into half guard.
Candido flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kent controlling the action here.
Candido gets back to full guard.
Kent postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Candido is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kent defends well.

Candido working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kent doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kent manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Kent working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Candido's head.
Kent is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Kent content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Kent must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Candido looking for subs off his back but Kent has passed one foot through into half guard.
Kent trying to pass the guard but Candido defending well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kent performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Kent working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Candido looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Kent is looking for a kimura here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scott Kent dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Kent lands a nice looking kick to the body. Candido takes a step back to recover.
A head kick misses from Candido.

Kent shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Kent keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Candido is trying to control but can't.

Candido actively working from the bottom here.
Candido wants to get back to full guard.
Candido might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kent blocks the strikes from Candido.

Candido looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Kent pushes past his half guard into mount!
Kent sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Kent stands up from mount. Strange move.
Kent scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Kent pushes Candido up against the cage in a clinch.
Kent stalling the fight.
Candido tries to break free but Kent pushes him back against the cage.
Candido has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kent is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Kent stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Kent stops a takedown attempt from Candido.
Candido tries to break free but Kent pushes him back against the cage.

Kent jumps guard.
Kent working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Candido.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Candido accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kent can do anything to dispel that myth.
Candido throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kent works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kent bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Candido's guard.

Candido escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kent gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Candido has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kent can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Candido wants to control the position but Kent says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Candido looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Kent drops an elbow to the side of Candido's head.
Candido trying to control here.
Candido is trying to get back to full guard.

Candido looking for a kimura from the bottom but Kent passes into side control!
Candido tries to buck Kent off but Kent is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
You can see the frustration on Candido's face as Kent controls the position.
Kent's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Candido is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Kent wants to lay and pray for a moment but Candido keeps working.
Kent controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Candido is looking for a sweep.
Candido takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scott Kent showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Kent pushes Candido up against the cage in a clinch.
Come on Candido - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Kent breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Kent shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kent showed some decent athleticism there.
Scott Kent has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kent perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Candido flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Kent stands up and beckons Candido to join him on the feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kent looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Candido looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kent decides to return to a standing position.

Kent shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Candido is trying to defend but Kent finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Candido is pressing down on Kent's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Kent landing with the ground and pound.

Candido looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Candido is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Candido is looking for a triangle here but Kent uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Kent taking a breather here.
Candido wants to control but Kent postures up.
Kent is staying tight to Candido's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Kent is looking to take a break and control but Candido is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Candido is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kent off and has taken his back!
Candido thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Kent manages to reverse the position and now he's in Candido's guard. Nice work there by Kent.

Kent is posturing up here but Candido has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Kent tries to roll out but it's too tight and Kent has to tap! Slick submission there by Candido!
