The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Russell Pearce and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woodley showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Davis.
Davis swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Davis scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Davis misses with a series of wild punches.
Woodley throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Davis's waist but Davis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Woodley off to one side.
Davis misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Woodley tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Davis swats away the attempt to clinch by Woodley.

Woodley forces Davis back against the cage and clinches.

Nice takedown defense from Davis. No joy for Woodley on that attempt.

Davis lands a head kick. Woodley smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Davis throws a right and a left that both miss.
Davis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Woodley will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Woodley uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Davis.

Davis fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Woodley looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Woodley has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Woodley changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Davis tries to avoid it but Woodley manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Davis to the ground. Davis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Woodley bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Woodley is looking to take a break and control but Davis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Woodley feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Woodley connects with a nice short shot to Davis's temple.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Davis shoots and misses

and Woodley counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Davis's guard now.
Woodley wanted to stand there but Davis had control of the position.
Davis pulls Woodley in close to prevent any damage.
Woodley wants to control from the top but Davis keeps moving.
