Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Javier Noriega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marco Polo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Polo is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Mind, Body, & Soul. Javier Noriega has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Javier Noriega!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marco Polo!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Felipe Paraventi and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Polo is looking to clinch.
Polo takes one on the chin but keeps coming.


It looks like Marco Polo has been cut.

Polo shoots in and gets a takedown into Noriega's guard.
Noriega not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Polo makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Noriega working for a triangle but Polo defends it easily.
Polo trying to control the position from guard on top but Noriega is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Polo stands up over Noriega, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Polo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Polo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Noriega isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Polo stacks Noriega on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Polo!

Polo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Polo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Noriega keeps working.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Polo is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Polo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Noriega defends it well.

Noriega keeps the fight on the outside.
Polo avoids the body shot from Noriega.
Marco Polo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Polo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Noriega swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Polo will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Noriega ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Polo moves away.

Polo has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Noriega is trying to keep an underhook but Polo manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Noriega postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Polo is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Noriega, into his guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Polo slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Noriega has hold of Polo's hands but Polo slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Polo bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Noriega shoots in but Polo avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Polo closes the distance and pushes Noriega back into the ropes.
Marco Polo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Polo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Noriega smiles and moves away.

Noriega has his foot on Polo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Polo works his way back into a safe position though.
